The recent brutal war with the Uzbek scum has taken a severe toll on the Andhairavid. Although the armies involved were relatively small, casualties were enormous, thanks in no small part to the logistic problems of fighting a land war in the Hindu Kush. The Shah must look to his territories. The people of the glorious Sikh homeland will be indulged a period of peace, until once again the love of Andhaira must spread further south.
Further afield, the name Andhaira strikes fear and hatred into the hearts of the unenlightened. The reputation of the Andhairavids is one of belligerent conquerors. This is of small consequence, but for his Empire's good name, the Shah plans to use this period of peace to repair international relationships.
Internally, the Empire is troubled only by imbecilic nationalist groups, concentrated mostly around inner Rajputana and the Ganges. Only a few insignificant minority groups defy the rising star of Sikhism. Under the glory of Andhaira, the new faith has spread to every corner of the Empire. It is confined within the borders of this sublime Sikh state, but that by no means makes it a minor religion. The Empire of Andhaira is a Nation united in prayer.
Other, less enlightened minds have yet to see the love. They reject the embrace of Andhaira. They reject the teachings of the Gurus. They are infidels, that must be converted through a glorious Sikh War of Peace. For now the Shah seeks to further his forefathers' efforts against the Hindus to the south and east. The Transoxianans and Persians are simply barbarians at the border.
Having learnt the hard way the ability of the Uzbeks to cause havoc, the Shah has realized that Baluchistan, Kohistan and the Upper Sindh region must form an impenetrable barrier against the Uzbeks, to protect the fertile land to the south. Until now, it has simply been a consolidated, well defined border, to avoid disputes. To this end a huge extensive network of forts is erected along the Uzbek and Persian borders. The Southern border is not fortified. The Northern border is to be a static defensive line, while the Southern border simply marks the Shah's progress against the Hindu scum.
Although the Andhairavid Empire has broken off from the Dar al-Islam, the Shah is still very familiar with the national community of the Islamic world. Andhaira decides to secure good relations with the Ibadi Sultan of Oman. There is no need to actively and needlessly antagonize potential friends. The Shah considers Oman as under the royal protection of the Andhairavid Empire, even though they are separated by the Indian Ocean, and the Shahdom lacks any sort of modern navy.
Trade in Baroda continues to grow, Muslim merchants mostly ignoring any embargoes against the "infidel."
The foreign perception of the Empire begins to normalize. Now the Shah is considered simply a major threat, rather than something to be swiftly crushed. A sensible enough change of mind. The Uzbeks tried the latter, and came off quite poorly for it.
Somehow, my AE actually deteriorates despite having complete religious homogeneity and several years of internal peace.
Those Hafsids must have groins made of dynamite. Incidentally, after the conversion to Sikhism, Meccah is becoming something of an appealing target...
An enormous plague breaks out in Samarkand, perhaps brought there by particularly goatish Baluchi horsemen? Several important Islamic monarchs make large donations to the Uzbek subhumans. It would certainly be preferable if they simply died out, but the Shah, in his infinite generosity, makes an enormous donation to the filth. The donation is completely in excess of all the other contributions. Not only does this put the myriad Muslim rulers of the world to shame, but it has impressed upon the Samarkandians the glorious love that is Andhaira.
I'm not entirely certain how they managed that whilst under a PU. Presumably they declared war before the Moroccan Sultan died. Morocco would probably be a major Muslim power on par with the Mamelukes, if they weren't subservient to odorous Hedjazi nomads.
Along the mountain ranges of Nepal and the plains of the Ganges Delta, Revolution has broken out. The Bihari government completely failed to reassert authority after its crushing defeat at the hands of the Andhairavids. Their military never regained its former strength, providing an opportunity for peasant revolters. This seemingly endless period of instability has culminated in full blown Revolution. Mobs of peasants and hard, Nepali Revolutionaries are making for the Bihari capital, while the Bihari King is preparing for a last stand,
Things aren't so unorgnaised back home. Thousands, perhaps even millions of Sikhs are rallying under Andhaira VII. Petty cultural and nationalist prejudices are being forgotten, as a majestic Jingoism sweeps the land.
The fort network along the Northern border is finished in just over half a decade. The Shah begins a new construction project. Port infrastructure and trading posts are established along the Baluchi and Sindhi coasts. Although Baroda brings in great wealth from trade, the Sindhi and Baluchi provinces just a stone's throw to the north see little of that. The Shah seeks to turn these places into more prosperous regions.
I was a bit unsure as to why the Tibetans were so
so I checked the world map. Turns out the Tibetans beat the crap out of the Chagatayyids, the Oirats, and the Mongols. They now encompass a landmass slightly smaller than the current Andhairavid Empire, although obviously completely worthless.
Even the most rebellious of the Rajputs have ceased resisting their magnificent conqueror. All, in time, will be made to embrace Andhaira. There is no alternative, for there is only Andhaira. Andhaira is the only, the everything, for Andhaira is love.
Here's a look at core and non core provinces. The provinces with the faint purple bars through them haven't cored yet.
After a long period of peace, the Empire prospers once more. The Hindu Kush now presents a bristling wall of cannon and musket fire to the Muslim barbarians of the north. The trade coming in through Baroda is at an all time high. The Empire is united in faith, under the mighty Andhaira VII. Andhaira is now in a position to expand his domain against the Hindu scum. He will drive their troops before him, smash their forts, conquer their cities and kill their Kings! The time has come for a glorious War of Peace!
The Vidyanegroes are the last remaining Hindu state of any significance. When they are conquered, it is simply a matter of time until the entire subcontinent is under Andhairavid rule. Only the arrival of the fabled Superstar could contain the Shah's mighty hordes, and he is simply a myth!
But, it is not to be. After a long, prosperous and triumphant reign, Andhaira VII has died. It is up to his firstborn son, Andhaira VIII, to bring the love of Andhaira to the oppressed masses.
Andhaira VIII, almost Jewish in his grasp of numbers, begins a vast, highly efficient recruitment effort. The new Shah is terribly unimpressed by his current standing army. Numbering about 40,000 men, it is nothing to scoff at, but nothing greatly significant either. With such an enormous recruiting pool and such a deep treasury, surely a son of an Andhairavid can bring a greater force crashing down on his foes? The recruiting program is aimed to increase the size of the standing army by an enormous 50%, adding a third Horde of 20,000 men to the Andhairavid military. The Shah is confident that with this expanded military, the Vidyanegroes have not even the slightest chance of victory.
However.
Just as the Shah is reveling in his smug, decadent self-confidence, word reaches him of strange events to the south. Although the last, recently deceased Vidyanegro Raja restored stability to his realm, there has been much grumbling amongst their Aristocracy. The legitimacy of the current dynasty is in question. The disastrous war against the Andhairavids demonstrated the military incompetence of the ruling Royal Family.
Some hopeful Hindus look for their salvation outside of India. Supposedly, the mythical Superstar left India for Indochina, to help the Hindu Kingdom of Champa. Some even say he has returned, to deliver them from the Sikhs to the north.
After the death of the previous Raja, the new Raja proved to be a brutal incompetent. His reign quickly became intolerable. A mysterious figure has taken the throne from him, single handedly defeating the palace guard. This figure refers to himself as Rajini, of the "Kanth" dynasty. This pretender has gathered support from all corners of Vijiyanagar, and has coronated himself as "Rajini I Kanth". Could this be the Superstar of Hindu legend? Is he that Hindu warrior, with the wolfish grin, muscles of iron, skin that cannot be pierced by man-made weapon? Is this man, the
Superstar?
What is to be done, now that this God amongst men rules the land of Vidyanegro?
