Easter Eggs in games

Actually posting dopefish from DXHR makes me want to do a quick dig through some of my other recent screenshots for some quick and dirty easter eggs in more modern games for you.

(Won't be the last time you see one of those. Turns out those games are popular, who knew?)

Kept rooting more. Apparently I've got enough that Steam's giving me a ration of shit about it and not letting me just scroll through everything so that's a slight pain.

(Normally wouldn't count that as an Easter egg given how I've been treating the rest of my screenshots, but fuck it. MP1 Max is in anyway)

(Some of these dialog ones are also questionably Easter eggs sinnce they're not really hidden. So it's more of just a bald-faced reference. Fuck it I'm throwing 'em in too)

(Also avoided posting some "Easter eggs" for Codex shit in games like Torment Numanera but I'll post this one because it's hidden simply by virtue of the fact that no one played Dead State)

(There are a bunch of different Easter egg NPC pilot names in Elite Dangerous so I'll just toss out one)

(And round it out with some Fallout 4 for shits and giggles)

Darn it, even Easter Eggs have declined, seeing how many D. Souls references are practically copy-pasted.

I did. I thought there was a good game beneath the shit or at least a good ending, but neither happened.

Effects of Playing the Cowbell

Playing the cowbell results in:

• Buff on the avatar: +10 attack speed for 30 seconds (effects all members of the party)
  
  
• Debuff on the enemy: confusion & -50 attack speed for 30 seconds (only effects reapers, plants, and mushrooms)
  
  

So, when using the cowbell, don't fear the reaper!

Have you ever stumbled upon a secret or reference in a game that made you smile, chuckle, or scratch your head while trying to get the reference? These hidden surprises, known as easter eggs, are like morse code between game developers and us, the players. "Are you as much of a nerd as I am?" "Did you get the reference?" They can be anything from a quirky item to a hidden message, or even a cheeky nod to pop culture.

Take "Baldur's Gate", for example. Here are a few easter eggs:

1) The Secret Cow Level Reference: A character in the Bridge District of Athkatla mentions this secret level, playing on the popular rumor (and eventual reality in "Diablo II") about a hidden level filled with killer cows.

2) One of the enemies in the final encounter in BG1 is called Semaj. Spelled the other way around it's James, allegedly one of the developers I think?

3) There's also an NPC in the North Nashkel road that tells you how Nights in Neverwinter are going to get popular in the future.

4) An NPC named Lord Foreshadow mentions Athkatla as being a quite popular destination in the future if u choose the right dialog option (a hint about the location of BG2).

He bears a striking resemblance to Salvador Dali.

Salvador Dali was cast as the Emperor in an unproduced (but storyboarded and casted) version of Dune by Alejandro Jodorowsky

Dali also insisted that at some point we should see the emperor shitting but sadly I always close the door.
