Thing are getting nasty with some tougher enemies and lantern stuff...

Exanima
It looks much better when playing...

I need to see what that armour is... Looks so cool...
Pollaxe is truly badass and polehammer too.

Terminus Est!:love:Thrust is missing but it's a good weapon, hits hard, effective against armour, still balanced and reasonably fast with decent reach.

Some ordinary madness:

1 vs 1 isn't hard, if you don't screw things...

vs 2 is worse

vs 3 IS WORSE!

And the best if to go on dark when fleeing...
Now there are presets, still putting out torch and 1h sword is impossbile here...

I was able to flee to something worse.
At least he aided against skeletons...

That thing is really terrifying....

The buildup in Of Orcs and Men is totally worth it, 4249. I just wish the ending was more fleshed out. Maybe they'll use Styx prequel games to gather money for a proper sequel.

It's a cookbook! :salute:

The continuation and conclusion of Faery Tale Adventure II: Halls of the Dead (1997) (first part here).

2DZepEl.jpg

A book helpfully contains hints on the locations of the Tapstones.

QddZHO3.jpg

Underneath the city of Pentere is a large dungeon containing ogres and the like. A kitchen contains the cookbook seen above.

UgV6p0H.jpg

Making their way through the dungeon, the brothers reach the Tapstone of Pentere.

mUUbFo3.jpg

After removing the Tapstone, the Golden Tree springs back to life.

pDYEzla.jpg

Exploring the northwestern peninsula yields little other than a lighthouse and a magic sword called Tempest.

2sXHIeu.jpg

Returning to the frozen wastes of Mons, the brothers find an impressive cave entrance.

cJr7ghE.jpg

Within is the Tekton Hammer, a unique item.

W0eMpIq.jpg

The Polar Sea.

iH8fQCX.jpg

Exploring the rest of Mons, a cave contains the Tapstone of Mons, encased in a block of ice that can be broken with the Tekton Hammer.

0EKhlRm.jpg

The jungle of Hatak seems to have been barely-implemented in the game, containing only a sizable ruin.

HJLweWE.jpg

Venturing within the walls of the ruin, the brothers find Aztec-like structures and dangerous Plant Men.

hz13gTY.jpg

A massive ziggurat stands at the far end of the ruin.

UEhYO1S.jpg

Within the ziggurat, the Tapstone of Hatak is guarded by a priest, who yields the sword Venom.

yC8pCzB.jpg

The elven city of Hethrallin lies in the treetops.

yrJziLL.jpg

Elves are as snooty as ever.

eYZ0X5h.jpg

Nearby caves are filled with Dark Elves.

IGnyAwY.jpg

Phillip macgyvers together a crystal, rod, wire, pliars, and fire-creature to create a flaming rod capable of burning through webs.

KHsqcn3.jpg

The Tapstone of Hethrallin is guarded by Kaidar, who also possesses one of the three Golden Apples.

PbcS37e.jpg

The Dwarven Mines of Aroblin helpfully contains Dragonskin Boots which guard against heat and flame.

J8YlqP0.jpg

The Tapstone of Aroblin is surrounded by a lake of lava.

0PKCPJi.jpg

Amber Castle lies near the Dwarven Mines.

t7wln51.jpg

Within Amber Castle, the brothers must activate a series of teleporters.

zvcJfoi.jpg

The dragon Irastikaan possesses the final Golden Apple.

4fvWqfy.jpg

The dragon's hoard is impressive, but superfluous at this point.

LmgGF0F.jpg

Placing the three golden apples by the Spirit Steeds opens the passage to the Underworld.

IHeIj9F.jpg

Ruined columns denote routes through the Underworld.

OpxCT1I.jpg

The Rock of Despair can be shattered with the Shimmering Mace, revealing the Object of Hope.

sEOkobA.jpg

This broken obelisk can be repaired using the Object of Hope.

eKuKPrf.jpg

The repaired obelisk leads to a hidden part of the Overworld, where Thorolis grants the Chaos Orb.

tkH4maT.jpg

The brothers make the long and arduous journey to Sariloth's fortress.

yBsntSp.jpg

With all seven Tapstones, the brothers have the option of joining Sariloth...

66TLk9J.jpg

...but the triumph of Order over Chaos eventually leads to the entire world being turned to ice.

xW9Ozcv.jpg

Without the Chaos Orb, there is still the option of defeating Sariloth in combat...

d4uZrqy.jpg

...but the triumph of Chaos over Order is less than palatable.

eO235C7.jpg

The best ending requires using the Chaos Orb on Sariloth to fuse Order and Chaos, in the style of Dungeon Master.

QmV3hJv.jpg

The three brothers are returned to their original world.

u6seViO.jpg

A slightly different ending occurs if one or two of the brothers is dead, acknowledging their sacrifice.

p06PRLh.jpg

Halls of the Dead would have been a worthwhile game if it had been completed as planned, and they had improved the controls/interface and path-finding, which can be more than a little frustrating. Also, the music is not only worse in composition than the original The Faery Tale Adventure, but it is also noticeably worse in sound quality despite having the advantage of being on CD a decade later.

Heh, even The Simpons did the cookbook variant before World of Warcraft.
But AFAIK it originated with Daemon Knight's short story from 1950.

Wasteland is such a great game. I replayed it at some point in the last year for the first time since the 90's and I thought it held up quite well. I think it's one of the best Computer RPG games of all time.

Finally got around to beating XCOM 2 last weekend.

3zYdXBU.jpg

Zombra was my first psi operative/magi (of two), and a proper badass. Mind-controlling Codices and shit.

nhgIn5X.jpg

The eponymous Kaivoks.

Egiw6oL.jpg

The team I ended up beating the game with. (The only custom nicknames are Neuromancer, and Zombra's character.)

mWAOgfS.jpg

Score screen.

Pretty fun, though mimic beacons + stacked health psi operatives make the game pretty hard to lose.
