Simple question: Is it worth buying?

Yeah, but I don't like to do that with new releases, particularly from a developer that I want to stick around.

Seriously, though, no one can give me a simple up/down recommendation on this game?

Despite the keyboard smashing frustration I endured during a retarded boss fight today, I still think it was worth the money. I might change my opinion if the next boss fight in the current area is as ballbreaking as others here have foretold.

The right question should have been: is it worth doing another porn for?

Doing more porn is worth doing for its own sake.

Tiffany teases me mercilessly about being a porn chick though.

I don't know really.
Perhaps if you find it cheap...
The DRM is shit, so personally I would never buy it.

Torrent it first unless you're against that on principle. It's clear that the value of the game is debatable enough to warrant taking advantage of the TPB try-before-you-buy exclusive offer.

Only if you have nothing else to play and there is no other good game you'd like to buy.

Considering one of your ways to earn income is to actually take a dick up the ass, this question takes a whole new meaning :?

I've got a little birthday money left over after getting replacement parts for my computer, if you must know.

And I've never taken a dick up the ass for pay.

To be honest, in reading most of the games you enjoy SMA, I do think you would like this. Story and C&C.

Granted this seems to be an almost half-finished game in some respects, and a bit short game wise. Unless you like to explore the replay aspects of it.

You might possibly wait for this to hit the bargain bin.

Ask yourself a question first - do you really want to support a developer that makes games of such a low quality where every single element is inferior to games of 10+ years ago.

Unless you go indie. Bioware, Bethesda, and Obsidian are the only major development studios interested in RPGs, AFAIK, and even their dedication isn't exactly rock-solid.

yes.

in future this game will become a blueprint of c&c done right and despite its weaker beginning and some gameplay shortcomings the game ends up being a remarkable achievement in computer entertainment, offering unique blend in the field of story and character driven action/rp/adventure games, charming Obsidian dilettantism in some features included :).

would be a pity if Obsidian would stop here because this particular blend has a lot of potential.

Especially Obsidian and Bethesda:

modern "RPG"s:

Failout 3 - a shooter
Mass Effect - a shooter
Aliens "RPG" - was a shooter
AP - a shooter
Failout 3: New Vegas - a shooter
DA - mediocre RPG.

The IQ of new members seems to be digging a huge hole now, while the ignorance is sky high

SHOOTER IS NOT A GENRE IN AND OF ITSELF. It is a method of gameplay. Just because something is a shooter doesn't automagically make it not an RPG skyway, no matter how much you think it should. A shooter becomes just a shooter when all you do is shoot. That's when it becomes a genre classification.

Fallout 3 and Mass Effect were shooters, no more than DA or TOEE were turn based or real-time strategy games. They share mechanics with them yes, but are not purely shooters.

Game is finally installing. Looking forward to seeing how bad it really is.

Let's put it this way - if the game is more to the side of good than to the side of bad, I'd like to reward the developer. If it's more on the side of bad, I'd like to prolong Obsidian's agony, frustration, and sleepless nights while trying to work on four projects simultaneously and failing all four in the end.
