Instead it will be.. what? I'm ready to get surprised.Chris Morris said:Further details were light for both titles, since Garriott's presentation was primarily an appeal to investors for the $3.8 million in financing the company is seeking. However, Garriott did note "the virtual world game is not just an ultra-light MMO shopped on social media. I think that would be a failure."

There is a big problem with the idea that there needs to be tedium involved in your gameplay for leveling up/gaining loot to be rewarding. Not that I'm defending this casual newfag shit, but, still. Grinding is not a step forward by anyone's measure. If I'm playing a video game and suffering tedium, then there is something that the game did SERIOUSLY wrong.made said:As I understand it, casuals who hate playing games instead prefer to pay to see their characters level up, gain loot, etc. That way they get the gratification of success without the tedium that normally goes along with it.
The best RPGs I ever played were those which made me temporarily suffer by throwing some really hard but after many tries solvable battles at me. If I didn't like that, I could also play Mahjongg or Dungeon Siege, but I found both to be extremely boring. If I'm playing a video game and suffering tedium, then there is something that the game did SERIOUSLY wrong.

I'm not saying the whole game should be a pain in the ass. But not adding any sort of complicated situation at all kinda turns it into a shitty interactive screensaver.

But if there was no tedium, what would they pay for to avoid?malko_sundervere said:There is a big problem with the idea that there needs to be tedium involved in your gameplay for leveling up/gaining loot to be rewarding.
