RPGWatch was going to shut down - taken over by Taluntain instead!

Your typical Watcher is a 50-60 year old man who worships Skyrim, and you cannot explain to him that his taste is really shit

But their news coverage was always 10x better, they were an RPG news aggregator, Codex is a political forum

Not really. It's people sick of companies ruining the genre with politics and virtue signaling bullshit, people who just want games as entertainment and not as political platforms, calling it out is a must if its ever going to stop.

Many here are probably 50+, while we might not game as much as when were young we are still drawn to the gaming / RPG culture itself, just by habit, finding like-minded and so forth + still looking for something we might have missed... I do think we get discussions going when there's something good or at least interesting to discuss when it comes to games.

I dont use their forum but honestly their news section is far more interesting than ours, you can find some random games that you might otherwise not heard off compared to only Kicskater Update #99 we have in Codex. Truly end of an era that Watch is closing. One day DU will be posting this and there will be nowhere for us to turn refugee to :negative:

I don't think I've published a Kickstarter update newspost here since Wrath of the Righteous was released back in September.

  • Niggers are bad
  • Trannies are worse
  • And homos are even worse than that
  • All the above and all their admirers deserve to be burned at the stake.
Respectfully disagree with these.

OK, so on rare occasions hot nigger women are worth fucking and best left unburned before you fuck them (even though they look no different and it makes them smell better). I concede that.

I don't agree. I get my RPG news by watching General RPG Discussion board and pretty much ignore the political side of RPG Codex, because I am not here for politicks.

Codex once again proves that a forum fueled by hate, butthurt and minimum moderation will get you far. Further than your competition, that's for sure.

This also reminded me about the flying penis incident on NMA. Good times, good times.

"What would be needed are people who are good at PHP (for making the add-ons) SQL (for the database work), CSS (for the layout) and Linux (to keep everything operational). It might all be more efficient as well and you could move to a VPS, which would make the running costs lower as well.

There is no future in continuing with the RPGWatch code base."

I assume this is indirectly the main reason why the RPGWatch is being closed.
  • Shit code base
  • No qualified personnel to refactor the code base
  • No money to hire qualified staff

Are you talking about this?
WSJymQH.png

I probably didn't have to make an account to see it, oh well. It is interesting for dropdien menu and game listing. It could probably benefit from more categories, filters, sort by etc.

I haven't read their forum. Is codexian free speech NOT PERMITTED there?

And I just notice the indie tab and RPGDOT?
