Yes. It is a CRPG. It's a genre you aren't familiar with, so it may seem fairly confusing for you.Same camera, similar art style, dark fantasy, similar combat, etc.

CRPG isn't a real genre. RPG is a genre. Anyways, this is clearly trying to ape off of BG3's success.Yes. It is a CRPG. It's a genre you aren't familiar with, so it may seem fairly confusing for you.Same camera, similar art style, dark fantasy, similar combat, etc.
Dude, you are spending spell slots to kill low level crabs. The bigger ones might be worth one actual spell but the smaller don't.I mean you'll only be able to spam cantrips because you blew your entire spellbook on the two fights before it. "Don't use your spells!" I hear you cry. Yeah, sure, I won't do that the next time I metagame and know there are three big fights one after the other and that there are only 2 crabs in the crab nest. I know what tricks devs think will get me, but almost all of them are extremely predictable and don't have the balls to restrict resting, so so much for that.
Lmao no plan survives contact with the enemy. Learn2adapt bitchIt makes things exciting and unpreditable only when it doesn't completely invalidate tactics,
The first game came out about 2 years before bg3 buddy, they just happen to use the same ruleset because it's more or less open source.CRPG isn't a real genre. RPG is a genre. BG3 is arguably revolutionary though for the RPG genre. I say arguably because I personally feel like it's stealing all the credit from the previous two truly revolutionary RPG games, Divinity: OS 1 & 2, by using the same construct but applying a more popular name and more $$$. BG3 is revolutionary but only because the developers are cowards and chose to neglect their own IP that laid the groundwork. Because of Larian's greed BG3 gets all the credit and any mildly cinematic "CRPG" as you call it will be a ripoff of BG3.The first game came out about 2 years before bg3 buddy, they just happen to use the same ruleset because it's more or less open source.CRPG isn't a real genre. You miss me that much baby? Keep throwing around those steamy threats I might have to drop my underwear an expose my giant fuckin balls. I will punch you in your old head. Don't tell me what to do. I have established the long history of the CRPG evolution dating back to 2012. I am being a historian. Maybe YOU should stop attacking me because you are upset that my football team has beat the shit out of your loser football team fof years on top of years and you are so mad and jealous that your embarassing crew of criminals will never compete with the champs you miserable old bastard. How bout you kiss my hairy ass cheecks and MAYBE I will grant you some kind of time slot to air your pathetic greivances to meStop posting off-topic shit or I'm going to ban you from this thread. And probably the entire GRPG section as well.
It didn't. It just ripped off Temple of Elemental Evil and cut out all the fun parts.AND NOBODY ON THIS ENTIRE FORUM WILL STAND INFRONT OF ME BECAUSE DEEP DOWN THEY KNOW I'M CORRECT. THEY KNOW DEEP DOWN THAT NU XCOM REINVENTED TURN BASED COMBAT
I'll look into it but something tells me you're full of shit. This forum always hated nu XCOM and it's sad. It saved the thing you love.It didn't. Wrong again, I liked Xcom 2, have plenty of hours in it. Hell, I got a legendary playthrough going on now. This forum always hated nu XCOM and it's sad
Not as much as your trailer, no.I'll look into it but something tells me you're full of shit.
I will not deny that Xcom had its part in making turn based profitable and commercially appealing again, but it's not the pinnacle of the field.
What? Do you also use your potions and scrolls instead of saving the for later?!I mean you'll only be able to spam cantrips because you blew your entire spellbook on the two fights before it. The moment resting is not restricted is the moment I know the game is not "hardcore" enough for me to worry too much about spell usage either way and that the devs assume you are going to rest spam.
I haven't done anything wrong, but can I get a two-week ban too? Always feel like I'm missing out.I warned him. Two-week ban.
Even though I'm obviously not burning every spell slot in every battle, let's say for the sake of argument that I am because I've turned off helpful dice and I don't want to spend half an hour+ killing crabs due to the abysmal RNG of 5E while also not knowing there are only 2 extra crabs in the nest (which I wouldn't know without metagaming, duh) and I also don't know that you can destroy the nest with only 1 main action instead of damaging it with spells and attacks (which I also wouldn't know unless I'm already next to the nest, duh). What exactly is stopping me from doing so? This play style is completely 100% viable and even encouraged due to no resource limitations. I really, really don't want to spend an inordinate amount of time killing crabs with cantrips and auto attacks due to missing all the time. It's not only boring but it also raises the question of why this fight is even in the game if it doesn't require any resources of you. I can't believe I've lived long enough to see prominent 'Dex members defend unrestricted resting. And for what? Solasta 1's campaigns are bad, its encounter design is bad, computerized 5E is bad and exposes its many weaknesses that require fudging dice to somewhat mitigate, maybe it even requires non-restricted resting because we haven't actually seen 5E in a hardcore setting so who knows. What? Bro, aren't you the DM of your own setting?
If table-top D&D has tought me anything, it's you never spend all your resources like it's your final battle before the long rest.
Unless you 100% sure this IS your last stand.
As SlightlyRadioactive said, cantrips should be the main attacks for your casters.
The spells are the big guns you only use for maximum impact, not to burn a couple of fucking crabs.
It's not some meta-thinking, it's just basics of attrition management.
You diss the rest spamming, yet your play style is exactly why the devs make resting easy so "anyone could beat the game".
