During the bright dark, naive days of Kickstarter, an RPG appeared, second in ambition only to Grimoire. Titled The Magical Realms of Tír na nÓg: Escape from Necron 7 – Revenge of Cuchulainn: The Official Game of the Movie – Chapter 2 of the Hoopz Barkley SaGa, or Barkley 2 for short, and developed by cboyardee and Tales of Game's, it was originally promised to be released in late 2013 (still promised on the game's website). You can glimpse some of the game's ambition from an interview I did with cboyardee back in (shudder) November 2012.

But, as we are all aware, promises come and go, but micro-issues remain. So it shouldn't surprise anyone that deadlines were not met, and cries of "vaporware" began – and have continued – to be heard.

However, to the surprise and excitement of many, Tales of Game's have just released a long-overdue new development update, with new videos and screenshots to trick us into believing they're still developing the game. That worked, too, seeing as this was the first Codex comment on the update:

"All my doubts have been dispelled plus a thousand times more."

So get ready to have your doubts dispelled, and more:

Mythical Greeting's

An update has been long overdue, and now you shall have it. Below you will find two things: First off there is a short summary of what's going. Second there is a collection of pics, gifs and vids that will hopefully satiate your gamer's lust for the moment.

What's the haps, paps?

The game is still being worked on despite every evidence pointing to the contrary. What exactly is going on right now is mostly the clean up of NPC's and Quests, making sure every permutation is taken into consideration, fixing inconsistensies in the dialog and overall making sure they are all as they should be. It is a slow, tedious churn but it will be done. Ol' Frankie is about to finish all his 2001 gun's sprite's within the next week.

That will free him up to solve a quagmire of missing sprites and temp grafix.

That's really all that's happening at this time that is worth pointing out.

And a couple of screenshots:

Be sure to check the update in full to see the gifs and the second video.

The only way I knew this game was still in development is because of frankie drawing gun sprites every day of the week on stream.

Looks good. The walking up in the bedroom thing remind me of "Chrono Trigger".

Looks great! Anyway, I think they said the release window is 2022, so they appear to be under budget and ahead of schedule.
