Owlcat formally unveiled the second season pass for Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous back in October. Today they announced the release date for its first piece of DLC, called The Last Sarkorians. As previously revealed, The Last Sarkorians will add a new companion to the game - Ulbrig Olesk, a surviving tribal chieftain of old Sarkoris with shapeshifting powers. The DLC will allow you to play as a Shifter yourself and will also include some new areas, presumably related to Ulbrig's companion quest. I wonder how he'll react to a certain prestigious backer content area. Anyway, here's the teaser trailer and announcement post:

Greetings, Pathfinders!

It’s been over a year since the release of Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, and we know a lot of you have now spent hundreds of hours fighting demons in the Worldwound. It may seem like all the mysteries have been solved and all the treasures found, and that this land has nothing left to surprise you with. But there’s still something we don’t know—what was Sarkoris like before the disaster turned it into a haunted wasteland? Our new DLC—The Last Sarkorians—will allow you to peer into the past of the fallen land, and give you the power to shape the future of its people!

Meet Ulbrig Olesk, a strange man with the unique ability to transform into a majestic griffon, who remembers Sarkoris as it was before Areelu Vorlesh opened the Worldwound. Take him into your party and experience the crusade through the eyes of the last surviving tribal chieftain of old Sarkoris. Explore new places, unravel the mystery of your new companion, and, perhaps, win his heart?

And if you like Ulbrig’s abilities, you can select the new Shifter class for yourself as well! Choose from one of six available archetypes, fight as a humanoid armed with sharp claws, or transform into a mighty beast—or both! The choice is yours. We’ve also added a number of new spells to make shifting more fun for you.

The Last Sarkorians DLC will be available on March 7, 2023. But you can wishlist and preorder it right now in Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store.

Or, if you already have Season Pass 2, it will unlock automatically on release day.

Happy shapeshifting!

As stated, The Last Sarkorians DLC will be launching on March 7th.

Homo furry DLC? This will surely be a hit with the Pathfinder fanbase on the Codex! Owlcat sure knows their audience.

Are you trying to establish your own "Realms of Arkania HD"/"deterministic>rng" catchphrase franchise?

And I really wouldn't count on all the broken class/feat/item shit getting fixed at this point.

Yeah but then I'd have to play Pozfinder: Wrath of the Retards and this horrific "boy I hope you love copy-pasted encounters and AI-generated writing" garbage made for people with a microbrain and an equally-sized dick.

This game is so shit I pirated it twice just because I couldn't believe how garbage it was and thought I'd give it a second chance. Nope. 100% garbage.

Come now, there is no need to be upset. Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is a pretty good game.

Well, I don't think so! The introduction is tedious and poorly written and the very first interactions are, too. Worse, the game instantly throws you into half a dozen pretty boring encounters. Maybe behind this terrible prologue there's a decent game but I don't have the stomach for it.

Immediately after the long ass tutorial, there's a tranny making out with his lesbian orc wife. And after that, the game really starts to fall apart into a buggy mess of text walls, trash mobs and unlikeable, poorly written characters.

I do agree that the prologue is not very good but DnD games are rarely good at low levels since you suck in combat but do not have roleplay freedom of PnP. I think it gets better later.

The game sweet spot is in Kanabres to first half of Chapter 3. Prologue is very badly setup and written. Anything after Chapter 3 is just a massive slog and wasted potential.

Chapter 4, visiting Abyss, but the demon there acts like some common thugs. Chapter 5 is just massive filler. And the encounter design also took a nosedive starting Chapter 4.

Related to the point above, I'm in chapter 4 now and I feel as if there was a giant missed opportunity to have the player wade into some kind of struggle between rival demon factions (sort of like Yojimbo or the original Mafia game). Instead I'm just wandering around three boring areas killing dipshits on the street or wandering into people's houses to kill them. I frequently collect 5x or 6x of the same magical items from encounters with 'chaotic' creatures who are identically armed; no effort by the designers whatever. It seems like they had a vague idea for this chapter and forgot to go back and fill it in before production started.

To me it felt like Demon version of Drow city from BG2 but less interesting.

The game is poorly written, there's not enough monster variety, encounters are way too single-minded, the demonic city is a fucking slog and the game is still buggy.

And I still think PF 1 and 2 are some of the finest goddamn buildporn games out there.

:hmmm: The first D&D/AD&D-licensed CRPGs were built on an engine designed for low levels, which was maintained by SSI with little improvement through 9 games, not counting spin-offs. If you've never played Pool of Radiance, Champions of Krynn, and Death Knights of Krynn, they'll change your mind about low-level D&D games.

The best parts of P:WotR come from Paizo. It just shows you should not depend on vodka drinkers to make a decent game.
