Bytepress, a site with color scheme much than ours, has a preview of Neverwinter Nights 2. I'm not sure how long it is because medium gray fonts on white backgrounds is a bitch to read. Anyway, I randomly cut and pasted a chunk out of it:

NWN was based on the Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition rules, being the first PC game to port a D&D world in a 3D environment. NWN2 will be based on Dungeons & Dragons v3.5, which has also come to be known as the Revised 3rd Edition, due to its numerous, although minor, changes from the 3rd Edition.

Actually, the first 3D D&D game was Descent to Undermountain, but no one likes to bring that one up. BioWare also probably doesn't mind taking credit for being first when they weren't.

Descent to Undermountain was AD&D, not D&D.

What kind of geek are you if you can't keep stuff like that straight?

What kind of geek am I that I care? I'm going to go somewhere to weep now.

A friend of mine has given me Descent to Undermountain as a present for new year stuff ("98 turning "99). The cd turned out corrupted. I could never find it again. Did I miss anything worth noting?

Why do game developers think that pushing a line like that works? Does anyone buy games because "LOLZ it's teh first 3D D&D dungun crawlerz1!!1!"? Oblivion, Morrowind, hello? This concept is not unique. It's not like it's Quake here.

Now 4D...

Limited Edition anyone?

Purchase Neverwinter Nights 2 and receive:

* The NWN2 Toolset before the game is available.
* A special feature created called Merchant's Friend. The Merchant's Friend enables the player character to obtain a powerful time crafted for each of the twelve classes. it also allows the player character the opportunity to purchase items from merchants at a special discounted rate. This feature will be available upon release.

* Limited Edition Content:
- A powerful new feat called Blessed of Waukeen, which will generate +1 bonus to all saving throws,
- Two special items
- Access to a unique weapon
- A magical golden aura which lights above your character
- Cloth map showing in-game locations
- Book of art, depicting characters and scenes from the game
- Two silver antique rings: Good & Evil

Err, I guess it's a step up from a cloth map, some postcards, a sticker, and a tube of mini dice.

Can anyone tell me if NWN2 will auto choose feats for levelups? (I read somewhere that NWN1 does this, but I've never played the game)

Volly - you must know surely?

It was quite some time since i played, but I sure would have remembered something like that. and it didn't. It do have a "Recommend" button in NWN2 and probably had in the first.

Is anyone else wondering why it is that when they swing in that video, they're too far away to actually hit anything and all that happens is they swing their dagger 3 feet in the air in front of the monster and you get a splatter effect? That's bad.

I'm wondering if I should pirate the regular or collectors edition? Is the extra stuff lame and cheaty, or is it something that should be part of the game but was removed in order to be sold separately (cough horse armor cough)
