I'm wondering if I should pirate the regular or collectors edition? Is the extra stuff lame and cheaty, or is it something that should be part of the game but was removed in order to be sold separately (cough horse armor cough)

Purchase Neverwinter Nights 2 and receive:

* The NWN2 Toolset before the game is available.
* A special feature created called Merchant's Friend. The Merchant's Friend enables the player character to obtain a powerful time crafted for each of the twelve classes. it also allows the player character the opportunity to purchase items from merchants at a special discounted rate. This feature will be available upon release.

* Limited Edition Content:
- A powerful new feat called Blessed of Waukeen, which will generate +1 bonus to all saving throws,
- Two special items
- Access to a unique weapon
- A magical golden aura which lights above your character
- Cloth map showing in-game locations
- Book of art, depicting characters and scenes from the game
- Two silver antique rings: Good & Evil

Make your decision accordingly.

How sad that they haven't evolved a bit on the visual representation side of combat. Still dull, and looking meaningless.

I may get the game if any interesting mods with zero-combat approach and good enough dialogues surface, whenever that may happen though unlikely.

However, I'll keep an eye for Codex reviews, just in case.

You can call NWN combat boring compared to other computer games, but you can't call it boring compared to real D&D combat. Exhibit A - level 1 rogue vs. goblin. Maybe someone will get injured by round five. Maybe.

NWN2 will be based on Dungeons & Dragons v3.5, which has also come to be known as the Revised 3rd Edition, due to its numerous, although minor, changes from the 3rd Edition.

What the fuck? Minor? I vote that phrase as Understatement of the Year.

Exhibit A - level 1 rogue vs. goblin. Maybe someone will get injured by round five. Maybe.

If the rogue rolls under a 10 each time. Also, a rogue should not be spending more than one or two rounds around an enemy anyways; if the rogue isn't stupid, the fight will be over before it starts (aka, the surprise round). Still, there's always the possibility of a bad roll... or two 1's on his sneak attack and weapon damage.

Most CE's I'd accept as a gift. This one, otoh, I'd take right back to the store just because of that stupid fucking golden aura.

Someone will probably figure out a way to unlock the feat and items within the first week. Whether in the cfg files or through the built in cheat console.

Other than that... I know there are people so pathetic that they're willing to pay an extra $10 for trivial shit like this, but are any of you actually willing to admit that you're so blatantly slaves to shiny stuff that others can't have.

The cloth map and the art book might be decent incentives tbh. The golden aura is an anti-incentive; it's like slapping a T-shirt on your multiplayer character that boldly proclaims "I'M A TOOL!"

Holy shit, that video has put me right off now....I know there is usually more to a game than combat/anims, but still...
