Hey there, is that a beholder? I love beholders.

Look closely here:

Eye of the Deep

Hit Dice: 1d4
Initiative: +2
Speed: 40 ft
AC: 13
Attacks: Bite +1 melee
Damage: 1d2
Special Attacks: ---
Special Qualities: ---
Challenge Rating: 1/2
Alignment: Always true neutral

These aquatic creatures look similar to beholders, but they are not nearly as powerful or as intelligent. They often appear in groups and can leave the water for extended periods of time.

Well that's disappointing. I've taught players in my PnP campaign to fear beholders... and they haven't even met any yet. I just have to put a tavern in the game called the Eleven-Eyed Sphere and they're practicaly shitting their pants.

Anyhoo, I very much like the thing at the top of the screen. My guess is that the order of the portraits reflects the order of action in a round, determined by the initiative roll. This is just a plain good feature.

I only see one eye on those critters too. Of course, considering this deals with elemental areas, it's not too hard to see why you'd see Eyes of the Deep around.

Saint, there's the one central eye and then the other ten are on eyestalks, which this creature does have.

Now that I look at it, the arms should have tipped me off...

I wish I had the new monster manual. All I have is a measly player's handbook and monster compendium 2nd edition. I heared you can download these things pdf'd but that's stealing. BTW, that's a screenshot from the trailer.

I didn't even notice the eye stalks. I was going by the portrait, but I see them now.
