I highlighted mostly for myself what I played. omg guize us 90s kids amirite?
Those were fun games, no wonder I don't play as much as I used to, everything is shit.

Why you 2 fuckers have the same colour avatars, I was wondering why is the OP replying to himself.

Fine titles but pretty comparable to say Dragon Age Origins, Knights of the Chalice and Risen in 2009 IMO (though I just started to play D:OS so don't have a fully formed opinion). Not that I expected first wave of kickstarter RPGs to be instant classics or something, I think truly great games from that model will come later.

Old games are best, new games sux.
Nothing under the sun.
My tastes changing through years inspire me to check titles, that I didn't tried before. One of it is Myth, pretty cool title. Or Blood (finished this year, basic+addons).
Myth is good cause difficulty settings are wide, you can turn it into ordinary h'n's or some test of might.
Incubation is best introduction for tactical games. His addon is tough as nail.
Carmageddon - only racing game that I can stomach.

We can make similiar thread with every year, there was always something good.

It's hard to pick a best year for gaming when 1992-94 and 1997-2001 were all so stellar and full of great releases.

You're missing great '97 titles, like Soukyugurentai, Crash Bandicoot 2, Dark Stalkers 3, Dodonpachi, Ultima Online and Last Blade. It's really pointless to make a list of how great early/late 90s were for gaming because you'll end up depressed if you do your reasearch, you'll end up with a crazy amount of games for each year. Also lol@Felipeppep, solid list but you included Chakan but not Thunder Force IV, Recca or Axelay?
Because of overexposure or what? Mario 1, 3, World and 64 are fucking awesome games, and I even don't like platformers that much. Kart is grate as well.
Galaxy 1&2 are better than 64, though not as ground breaking

That doesn't remove the objective greatness of their design. Console tards don't care about/haven't heard about CRPGs but that doesn't remove the fact that Wiz&U7 were some of the most important games of 92. That's why I despise most video game lists, since vast majority of gamers, myself included, are into specific genres&platforms and don't care enough about the whole picture so that they could make truly objective evaluations. There's always something missing, and at times mediocre and/or outdated games make the cut. And when you add on top of that the fact that most gamers couldn't care less about playing retro gamers or doing research on the history of video games, you get cancer like this

Spoiler alert: Ultima 7 and Daggerfall aren't included even on the honorable mentions, and there isn't any game made prior to early 2000s on the list.

I'm pretty sure we already had this thread and came to the same conclusions, but my google fails me.

My version of the '92 list.

14 games against 16. Not much of a difference, and I was thinking '92 myself.

Note that this is only based on the games presented in this thread. I could probably jack up both numbers with a "complete game list for year XX" list in hand.
