The mostly unedited chat log for the developer chat with Master Creating, which covers their action CRPG with the cyberpunk theme, Restricted Area.

As you can see, it was a lot of fun:

[Saint_Proverbius] What rating is Restricted Area going for, since that's a big topic?
[JanB] It´s going for M
[Saint_Proverbius] M for what kind of content? Just violence?
[Motu] ...
[Motu] maybe...
[Motu] use of drugs
[JanB] Everybody how likes to get defeated by a clever AI and doesn´t care much about graphics should check out Imerion (www.imerion.net)
[Motu] use of alcohol
[JanB] Violence, Sex, drugs, speech
[JanB] All the funny stuff
[EEVIAC] Its not going to have a really out of place sex scene like Gothic 2 is it?
[JanB] No
[JanB] We are discreet
[Motu] but you can have sex
[JanB] Yes
[Motu] a lot of sex
[JanB] Stop that! ;)
[EEVIAC] With machines?

Thanks to all who showed up. Those who didn't, I hope your toes rot off.

ADDENDUM

Just for kicks.. And because it was requested:

  • * JohnPnP (JohnPNP@81-228dp.cvx-1.lbb-1.door.net) has joined #RPGCodex
<Saint_Proverbius> But I'll edit the log and stuff, post it anyway.
<JanB> Doesn´t matter, it was fun
    <JanB> Okay, do that
    <Saint_Proverbius> Remove Pooperscooper's tirade.
    * ChanServ sets mode +o Saint_Proverbius
    <Motu> and the sexistic thing?
<Exitium> they've got the art director of redneck rampage and kingpin doing the game
<VeryInky> It looks exactly like the fallout room
<Exitium> its gonna be very dodgy, this bard's tale game
<Saint_Proverbius> I'm leaving in the sex.
<JanB> Good idea- and the girls, the sushi, the nazi songs, the weapon thing...
    <JanB> Yes, leave the sex
    <JohnPnP> Ok.
<VeryInky> I remember the original bards tale
<JohnPnP> I am so damn confused.
<JHunz> no, leave that in so no women ever pierce the sanctity of the channel
<JohnPnP> Pooper scooper is such an ass.
    * JHunz rolls his eyes
    <Exitium> Sexism rocks.
<JanB> So the log gets an M rating in USA
    <JanB> Hehe
<Exitium> The word's got 'sex' in it.
    <JohnPnP> Goddamn.
<JohnPnP> M is so fucking bullshit.
<JanB> The only thing we are better with
    <Motu> ass
<Saint_Proverbius> We can't get an M.. I'm removing the children.. hah hah hah
    <Motu> now it got A
    <JanB> uncle-fucker
<Exitium> Yeah let's all take a Teen demographic then John.
    <MetalWyrm> lol
<Exitium> Atari focused on the teen demographic for ToEE.
<JohnPnP> I am 16, I can go anywhere and get an M game, no card.
    <JohnPnP> carding*
<Exitium> and only 2% of the buyers are teens.
<Exitium> It just goes to show how stupid Atari is.
<JanB> now we are in a loop
<MetalWyrm> Exitium, rating doesn't mean shit here in Canada
<Exitium> Jan, just make it M rated.
    <VeryInky> Teen?
    <Exitium> Metal: yeah
    <Exitium> most gamers are 18-25
<Exitium> most RPG gamers are 26-50
    <Exitium> believe it.
<JanB> Okay guys, nice to meet you (we Germans really mean that when we say this! Strange, huh?)
    <JohnPnP> Que?!
    <VeryInky> SHrug
    <JanB> Bye!! :))
    <MetalWyrm> seems reasonable
<Exitium> Jan: invade france for us again.
<MetalWyrm> most "kiddies" like action and non-thinking games
<JohnPnP> All my friends are hardcore gamers, and we're all in HS.
<VeryInky> It's so they can sell it at walmart or something
    <JohnPnP> Heh.
<Exitium> Metal: yep, and heck - most counterstrike players are 16+
<JanB> No problem - give me 6 days and some tanks...
    <Exitium> rathe than under 16.
<JohnPnP> Although none see the light of fallout.
    <Motu> we have the tanks...
    <JohnPnP> BASTARDS.
<MetalWyrm> CS can be fun for a change of pace sometimes
    <Motu> bye
    * JanB (~JJJJJ@c195036.adsl.hansenet.de) has quit IRC (Quit)
    * Motu (Motu@c189054.adsl.hansenet.de) has quit IRC (Quit)
<Exitium> our french readers are gonna hate this log.
    <Exitium> "we will invade france"
<JohnPnP> K, who the HELL were they?
<Exitium> nicely done, and nicely non-PC, germany!
    <Exitium> read the fucking topic
<JohnPnP> No idea who master creating is.
<Dhruin> Time to do some work. Cheers, all.
    * Dhruin (~dhruin@CPE-203-51-76-105.nsw.bigpond.net.au) has left #RPGCodex
<JohnPnP> I really should read stuff at RPG Codex.
<JohnPnP> But I have so much damn HW.
    <JohnPnP> Oh SHIT.
    <JohnPnP> SORRY
    <JohnPnP> SORRY
    <JohnPnP> SORRY
<JohnPnP> DAMNIT, YOU SHOULDA TOLD ME IT WAS A FUCKING CHAT INTERVIEW.
<JohnPnP> NOW I LOOK LIKE A DAMN ASS.
    <JohnPnP> Not that I don't usually.
    <VeryInky> Hehe
    <JHunz> hah
    <Saint_Proverbius> Welp
<Saint_Proverbius> The chat log is UP
    <VeryInky> Url?
<VeryInky> So we can all laugh at johnpnp's mistake?
<Exitium> you should add johnPNP's stuff to it saint

Is it just me or was there an absolute shitload of information in that chat? Maybe it was an illusion created by the informality, and it'd probably be impossible to do something like that on a Troika chat with 60 people, but the moderated chats are always really stilted and never really have that much more information than a good interview anyways.

If the named weapons go through, I'll be very impressed.

Yeah, I don't think the Devil Whiskey chat will be that large either, so I may not have to moderate that one as well. We'll see how many we get.

A weapon making skill and the ability to name them, as discussed in the chat, is a pretty slick idea.

Well, moderation does ensure at least a minimum amount of content to the interview. Who else remembers the Project Phoenix chat after Troika got g-lined?

Still, I dislike submitting questions into a queue.

Now that's the spirit, Jan. The German Reich shall rise again! 8)
