My, that looks dark and gritty. Job done for Bioware then and they managed to get us to watch it so mission accomplished all round.

Codex 2012 Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Serpent in the Staglands Dead State Divinity: Original Sin Torment: Tides of Numenera Codex USB, 2014 Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 BattleTech Bubbles In Memoria A Beautifully Desolate Campaign Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Kingmaker Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
I'm sorry for the artists that made all the good-looking models, etc. which would be cool if it wouldn't look like the style of the game itself was copy-paste.

Well... at least it looks dark, and there is enough hope that the game might be fun :)

Funny. A lot of people here at the Codex complain about games that spoon-feed the player, but a teaser gets released that requires a little thought to get at what it shows and people shoot it down.

After four days of bs we get a 'trailer' which's target audience are people who get hyped on 25 seconds of lotr epicness.

Was that Helm's Deep or Minas Tirith they were fighting over?

Also I thought I spotted Sarevok somewhere in the monster horde (maybe that's the big patented "Bio-twist" in DA).

Seriously though you gotta hand it to those Bio PR guys - they are continually managing to get nerds everywhere excited about things that turn out to be nothing - imagine if they actually had a decent game to promote what they could do!

So many people are commenting on how much the 30-second teaser reminds them of Lord of the Rings. If we're talking about those Bio PR guys, you hafta admit that trying to latch on to a *billion-with-a-"b"* dollar IP (from the three recent movies alone) is a pretty smart strategy.

No. Creating your own billion dollar IP is a pretty smart strategy. Latching onto someone else's billion dollar IP is just derivative and disappointing.

True, to an extent - but if the game is good and appeals to that massive LotR market, it's a success.

Don't want to install this crap they call quicktime. Is there mpeg video in the internets?
just choose flash or windows media. It's right under the video frame.

Ok, what did your thoughts tell you about gameplay, character creation, character interaction, character development, party mechanics, backround story, story, pov, inventory/item management...?

Yay! They interact with swords!

Don't bich too much people. It's obvious they want to spin it up and hype it before they get to technicalities, don't pretend you don't know how it works. And what better way to appeal to the average gamer than by showing big monsters and battles and shining armour, the good guys vs. the bad guys?

Didn't they say that they wanted to appeal to hardcore players on numerous occasions?

Bioware making a generic RPG. I'd be more surprised if it weren't on their fucking business card.

There is one bit of good news, which isn't in the video. They've made it clear that there will be tools provided with this game, and they seem pretty excited about them. My impression of that is that the new toolset is at least as easy as NWN1 was, and hopefully quite a bit more powerful. It will definitely need the conversation editor that NWN2 had. That was an improvement.

Anyway, if they really do come out with a toolset that is at least as handy as the NWN1 toolset was, then I will do exactly what I did with NWN1 -- buy the game, ignore the OC, and play tons & tons of modules. Bioware will be happy, as they'll have my money. And I'll be happy, because I'll get to hunt around for another module of similar quality to Tales of Arterra or Kingmaker. Win win, even if we all do mock their OC.

Yep as I expected that told me absolutely zero about the game.

The game's finally out of vaporware status - in addition, the trailer unintentionally conveys the impression that DA is nothing more but a relatively cheap, generic fantasy RPG (hopefully, it won't be the case). That alone tells us a lot.

Wow, this is totally EPIC, guys! It'll be like playing LoTR: The Game, except totally better because it's BioWare. I'm going to the bathroom for a while.

Despite how incredibly generic it looks, it does have two small aspects to it that hint at the game itself... first is that the trailer is quite a bit darker than LOTR and second is the implication that you take part in army-scale battles. Should be interesting to see some gameplay next week even if this trailer was awful.
