1up have thrown up a short piece about the Witcher's new upped version:

This is the version of The Witcher that should have come out in the first place, and it's the obvious one to buy if you have never played it before. Now that the horrid load times are fixed, RPG fans can experience, pain free, the single best RPG to come out last year. As an added bonus, the new version is shipping as a multilingual disc, meaning you can play it in the original Polish with English subtitles -- just like watching a foreign movie the right way. We say yes.

Mmmmmm... Polish.

I understand watching a deep movie drama in it's native language with English subtitles. Other than that, I want my Kung Fu movies and bad Tolkien ripoffs in all their badly done English dubs.

Well, I guess it mostly includes countries other than Poland, since the polish version seemed pretty... full to me, unless they added and fixed a whole lot of stuff.

Yes, yes, I know, the english version had horrible translations and voice-acting.

The voice acting wasn't all terrible. They did cut a bunch of the dialogue though.

:D

It goes in exactly opposite direction in Polish translations of American movies, though. ("Fuck you" -> "Odczep się" and similar.)

I remember I found the Polish equivalent of the "I piss on your juvenile scorn" line in the game and it was classy in original as well :D

For those not familiar with the language our eastern pope-worshipping, car-stealing, cabbage-eating neighbours speak: "Wypierdalaj chuju!" means something along the line of "Fuck off, dickhead!".

I think the days of pope-worshipping are over in Poland. I mean, people of course still worship The One and Only Pope, but could care less for the current impostor, I think.

Glad to see The Witcher getting some love from one of the big gaming sites.

The couple days of pope worshipping begin after he had died, and it got trendy to be part of Jan Paul II generation whatever the fuck that supposed to mean.

There were some convincing facts that had proven that JPII is saint like (I didn't made them up, they were pretty common and I had heard those from diferent sources):

At is funeral there was raining - obviously proving that angels were crying, not sure why they hated to have in heaven already, or did he go to hell becouse he wasn't a Mormon? Some questions are beyond human understanding.

At some occasion done for JPII not sure what it was:
There was a miracle of wind flipping pages of a book, that obviously meant that he wanted to say something, but I didn't heard what. Guess it just didn't make sense, but give him a brake he is old, he still was in good intellectual shape for his age.

There were some football game between two clubs that heated each other, where they planned to solitude becouse of the death event. It ended in fight pretty fast.

I saw some JP2 (no, not The Lost World lol) worshipping first hand on my visit to the Vatican last year. A group of people clustered around his tomb, kneeling and praying. They were touching the security guard's hand, who then walked over to the tomb and touched it for them. I don't think it was mourning, since that was a few years after his death. Just plain worship. I don't know if they were Polish, though.

Certainly Catholic attendances in the UK have been bolstered thanks to immigrants to eastern Europe. It's now the biggest church in the UK, beating the state religion Anglicanism.

Yay, arthouse mode. It should really be an option for more non english games, especially from those with less dedication to quality than cd projekt. A decent textual translation has to be cheaper than voicing something in 8 languages.

I'd prefer a good English translation. I'll leave the foreign language subtitles for the movies.

Mmmm... this is a musthave. Also:
"The game will be a free download for those who bought the original, but it will also be a new retail release for those who never bought it."

This is how you build a brand. This is how you treat the fans. This is CDprojekt.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
They only made one game yet, and it's not even my favourite RPG of all time [although I immensely enjoyed it], but heck... I already love CD Projekt! That's what I call customer support and love for the fans.

I will probably buy a second copy of it.
And the probability will become a certainty if they'll release a collector's ed. or something similar :P

roughly 5,000 rewritten and re-recorded lines of dialog

I hope those who already got The Witcher can download the Polish voices with English sub.
Don't quote me on this, but I believe they said that people who already bought the game can download the upgraded edition for free.

That's nothing, FOblivion has ten times more lines.

Think he was just emphasizing the fact that they're actually re-recording dialog. That's dedication I truly haven't seen by any other company in any other (single player) game.

Yes, and it will maintain the true fallout spirit and roleplay, and will be epic and awesome.
