This is games shipped, not sold. This is the number that the retailers think they can sell. The number is entirely based on Oblivion numbers.

BTW, the dialogue in F3 is definitely not stellar (and sometimes plainly bad), but from what I've seen up to now it is definitely better than the uniform blandness of NWN's dialogue.

nigga please, replay NWN and see for yourself. I will take cliche'ed neverwinter nights dialogues over extremely retarded ones written by a complete moron in 3 minutes any day.

It's kinda true. I was surprised at how many people here actually bought it on day 1. Right now I'm saving up to buy NWN2+MotB+SoZ when it comes out, FO3 I am getting in like a year.

Wait, you haven't even played it yet?

So, having not ever played NWN, would you say to me that the dialog is really good?

At times, it's great. It's mostly average to above average with some shit thrown in. I seriously doubt FO3 writing is better knowing Bethesda.

But, don't worry, my opinion doesn't count as I'm a BIO/NWN 'fanboy' (who rated the OC 75%).

And you haven't bought and played and enjoyed Fallout3 for what it is for 20 hours.

What it is? A Bethesda game? I don't enjoy Bethesda games. That's the problem. Give me Disney, SS, or EA version of FO3, and I'd buy it and posisbly enjoy it even if it wans't like the earlier FO games because those companies make enjoyable products.

Um... Fallout 3 kind of reminds me of the current war in Mesopotamia... It's like you throw that much money at something and you come up with this?

I'm sorry but Bethesda, when it comes down to it, you're no Charlie Parkers or Thelonious monks... I don't really see this as art at all.

I think if you read VD's let's play FO3 again you would see where he says that you have to do a mental block to be able to enjoy the game on its own merits. What's so fucking hard about understanding this point?

I'm not gonna buy it, maybe torrent it in a while when wine support is flawless (for Linux) but I'm pretty sure it's a fun game to play. That FO3 exists won't take away what we all feel about the first game, just like POS didn't. Honestly, if you think you won't like it - pretend it doesn't exist.

Mental block? That's retarded. If the only way to enjoy a game (or movie, or anything really) is to have a 'mental block' (whatever the fuck that's supposed to really mean) then the game isn't really that enjoyable.

I sure hope VD doesn't expect us to have a 'mental block' to enjoy AOD.

And, oh, FO3 even if it sucks up the wazoo will never influence what i think of FO1. I don't work that way. I judge games individually. FO3 just plain sucks cause Bethesda sucks and they make sucky games. Period.

Hell, I'd liekly enjoy a FO3 made by EA even if they made it a 'sport game'. R00fles! Because, at least EA makes fun games.

He means trying to enjoy Fallout 3 not for how well it tries to copy Fallout 1 but for the quality of the plot, dialogs and role-playing.

I play games for fun. Mental blocking doesn't sound very fun. It's like playing a game with something up your ass.

He's saying try to lower your standards and expect less from your video games, and you'll find them more enjoyable.

I'm normally not so inflammatory, and I respect VD for a lot of stuff, including AoD which I will probably buy four copies of, but I just don't get the justification here. Don't expect a great game, and then a game is enjoyable? That just seems illogical to me. I tried the game, and gave it a lot of lee-way, but the mediocrity kept it from being enjoyable. Yes, there are things that are done well, but there are so many other things that aren't done well that I don't get the Codex's sudden love affair. I mean, the dialogues are downright awful in spots, and the combat is mediocre at best.

But hey, maybe I'm just being a negative nancy.

Was what I said really that difficult to understand, Volly? Any game that is set in an established setting should deliver on two fronts, not one. It should be a decent game, at least, and it should get the setting part right. Such a game can fail the setting part and still be a decent game. However, the player could find it hard to accept and overlook the setting flaws and that's what I said.

Imagine a Star Wars game that gets pretty much every setting aspect wrong. A Star Wars fan would find it challenging to play such a game, even if it's good, and would require a mental block to be able to play it as a generic sci-fi game.

Well I'm buying FO3 mainly to maintain my body of "game knowledge" than because I really want it (of course, I'm not paying top dollar but going through CD WOW which is about half the price of buying it in the shops here).

Saying that, ignoring the overhyped mainsite reviews, the overall impression I'm getting from forums is that it's a half-decent game albeit not really connected to the original FO games.

I can live with that.

Besides, it's been so long since I played the originals that I can barely remember them anyway, so I won't have my rose-tinted glasses on when I get down to playing FO3.

I don't really give a shit if FO3 isn't like FO2. All i care is if it's fun. In between playing past Bethesda games, and what iv'e heard, read, and watched of the game, FO3 is just as shitty.

I repeat: "Hell, I'd liekly enjoy a FO3 made by EA even if they made it a 'sport game'. R00fles! Because, at least EA makes fun games."

'Nough said.

I judge games based how much I enjoy them. If they ain't fun; they're shit. Period.

So we have a game that fails on two fronts, not one. Are you sure you mean't "mental block" and not "lobotomy" ?
