... which ones are better and why?

Free PC Guides took a closer look at this pressing issue.

Many of you have probably noticed how many radically different Alpha Protocol reviews are out there, both in terms of overall scores but also regarding the appreciated/criticized elements. If you take a closer look at these articles (online or written) you will observe that two trends exist: one that consists of bashing almost all the game’s components, and another one that appreciates the game as a blend that’s ultimately better than the sum of its parts. While both currents identify almost the same issues (mostly graphics and AI departments) the first review category finds these issues “game breaking”, while the latter views them only as some flaws that could have been avoided, but don’t damage the entire gaming experience.

The existence of the two very oposite trends didn’t initially intrigue me too much but, after putting the pieces together, I’ve realized that the “negative” one is emphasized almost exclusively within the US reviews, while the “positive” trend is made out almost entirely out of European Alpha Protocol reviews.

Sounds about right. Americans tend to focus on 'headshotz' and 'grafikz' at all costs, while Europeans tend to take a game as a whole with emphasis on story in many cases.

No. We're so used to mediocre games from USA that Alpha Protocol caught us by surprise.

You know there's a saying:

"A prophet is not recognized in his own land."

Just cut it to games market in US.

Immense amounts of daily corn sugar intake and growth hormone riddled beef have their effects on a population. The US is a prime example of this and these reviews are just more circumstantial evidence. The poor sods lack the mental power and concentration to appreciate anything which doesn't constantly throws shiny lights at them.

Illogic. btw, Didn't European reviewers love FO3 and Oblivion as well as various BIO gamjes INCLUDING fuckin' NWN?

Fuck, people here are moronic.

P.S. Where's this 'awesome' MOTB/PST level of writing that AP is supposed to have? I don't fuckin' see it.

made...don't you know it! ;)

Americans have an inferiority complex as seen here vis a vis us Europeans :D

@ Trash. You only have to see how the Splinter Cell series has been converted from a stealth game into an action shooter with unlimited ammo resulting in the American audiences blowing in their pants at the joy that they can FINALLY play the game as they wanted: level by level mowing down of hundreds of goons, much as every game they have ever liked.

@ volourn. That's because you don't SEE the writing, it's spoken. Besides who said the writing was extraordinary PST level or whatever? Time to cut down on the genetically modified greaseburgers cause they are making you see things.

@ Melcar. No it's Americans that people don't like. Oh yeah, like your Chimp prez said, 'we hate your freedoms', LOL. Seriously, you guys make fine games, but they are lost in the piles of shit you serve up so much that any time a game tries to do something different, if only in a minor way like AP (setting alone deserves praise for not being yet another fag arse Dragon fucking RPG), we Europeans tend to appreciate it, while Americans scream and holler at it like fucking Luddites.

As always, other countries just fail to realize how much shittier life would be without America's obsession with comforts and gadgets...

If it wasn't for America's rabid consumeraism and matiriealism, you guys would still be playing super mario bros. The American industry helped develop videogames beyond the 16-bit. America pretty much started PC gaming, and makesup most of the decent games.

Without America, your idea of rpg would be putting on the red armor or the blue armor on your sexually confused, 15 year old, ayran protagonist.

You can say a lot about the Kwa but claiming that they have even a basic grasp on historical reality is not one of them. I blame the lack of even a basic attention span and a general IQ which is only marginally higher than a demented baboon.
