I haven't done it in a while but last I remember BG2 installs easily on a new machine. That's pretty much my main motivation to get GOG versions, if the old box version is a pain in the ass to setup (Under a Killing Moon says 'sup).

Delete the ereg folder and you'll never be pestered to register again. This works for Fallout and Fallout 2 too.
