<p>Joystiq <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/09/rumor-mass-effect-3-to-be-revealed-at-the-vgas-will-include-mu/" target="_blank">heard a rumour</a> from a trusted source that <strong>Mass Effect 3</strong> was the subject of the teaser trailers and that the game will include multiplayer.</p>

Nice, a separate multiplayer (pure shooter, arena levels, of course with its own character progression and ACHIVMUNTS!) to justify even shorter singleplayer length. Those business execs at EA sure earn their pay.

I figured it out guise.

It will be multiplayer because since Bioware couldn't come up with a non-absurd (even for their standards) way to stop a fleet of thousands of Reaper ships that are heading into the Milky Way, the main game will go up to the point where the battle with the Reapers start.

Then the multiplayer kicks in and you will be raiding Reaper ships with your buddies online through x-bawkz leiv and completing a series of mini-quests that can disable the reaper ship.

It will be like Oblivian gatez but in space and multiplayer, not to mention more epic than ever.

As for the comment regarding possible shortened play length, does that mean it will be like one of those FMV interactive movie type games, but instead of community theater actors playing the roles, it's 3d rubber skinned people voiced by community theater actors

This will likely drag down the third game into worthlessness (more time and effort spent "balancing" the multiplayer component so the single-player gets rushed out the door like shit off a shovel), and the general "MOAR MULTIPLAYER NAO" trend just makes me rage.
