BioWare producer Cameron Lee tweeted some information about Dragon Age III: Inquisition from the Edmonton Comic Expo. I'll just relay all the information I can find that seems relevant:
  • You will play a human character. So don't expect any dwarf-on-elf action. You get to choose backgrounds but you won't be able to play them like in Origins. We know from before that you won't reprise the role of Hawke.
  • You character will get control over a castle. No context given.
  • Character customization will be greater than in Origins. This includes follower customization. Not sure if this includes ability/skills customization or anything that actually matters.
  • Saved games will transfer over from previous games, somehow... for some reason.
  • "One level in Dragon Age 3 is as big as all of the levels in Dragon Age 2". Not sure if I understand this quote. Are they going for open area exploration? It's built on the Battlefield 3 engine after all.

Complete with BDSM dungeon?

:bounce:

Still, thanks for the info, Zed. Means I need to get over to the BSN, find the most retarded threads and copy-paste them here.

Updated. Missed that last bit about large levels. By levels I assume they mean areas.

Your ignore list.

Mods can fix that.

In the name of immershun, I shuppose.
  • We know from before that you won't reprise the role of Hawke.
Hopefully we can (b)romance Hawke this time around :bounce:
  • You character will get control over a castle. No context given exists.
Repaired.
  • Character customization will be greater than in Origins. This includes follower customization.
Glad to know BiowarEA will take the much needed time to add more hair, makeup and clothing options. It was frustrating in the previous games not being able to properly create my characters.
  • Not sure if this includes ability/skills customization or anything that actually matters.
Preposterous. Over abundance of skills and/or abilities only hinder our enjoyment by taxing the players with unnecessary information. I'm playing a Role Playing Game, not an excel spreadsheet.
  • Saved games will transfer over from previous games, somehow... for some reason.
Loyal fans will be rewarded with additional ingame DLC offers, otherwise not available for those that didn't buy the previous games. BiowarEA listens to its fans, so they will give them what they asked for.
  • "One level in Dragon Age 3 is as big as all of the levels in Dragon Age 2". Not sure if I understand this quote. Are they going for open area exploration? It's built on the Battlefield 3 engine after all.
Multiplayer FFA/CTF/DM Arena is a much needed feature for DA3.

EA herd that sum ArrPeeGee of some kind called "Skyrim" sold fucktons, so they're trying to recreate that this time: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/...e-checking-out-skyrim-for-dragon-age-iii.aspx

After they failed with the Call of Duty audience with Dragon Age 2 it's the obvious choice: http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/call-of-duty-biowares-rpg-of-the-year.55515/

I know most Codexians hate Dragon Age..I actualy like the first one quite a bit and as stupid as it may sound I help a glimmer of hope that the 3 game would be playable but things are looking more bleak by the minute...

There's more than a few people who will admit to liking it. I liked the first one quite a bit. The travesty that was DA2 led me to question my standards and migrate to the Codex. I don't think I can play DA:O again, but I still hold it in decent regard.

As for DA3...R00FLES.

They said there would be more customization with ME3. There were weapon upgrades and that was about it. I'm pretty sure it will be mostly whatever changes Bioware made from ME2 - ME3 combined with a poorly implemented Elder Scrolls open-world, which considering how bad Bethesda has gotten, will be quite the sight to see.

But hey! Maybe this time they'll finally make it so that beards don't lock your jaw and chin bones into a preset position.

I 'll wait for more details before hating on this game. I might even play it if they get rid of the horrible threat mechanism.

Self-romance option would be great too. By having lips painted on the thumb and index of the PC's right hand he would be able to kiss himself when nobody's looking.

A pointless addition. Most people playing it for the romances have already painted lips on their thumbs and are furiously making out with it once the sex starts.

They expanded the range of fuckbuddies to the elderly, amputees, mentally challenged, animals, and the most important of all... inanimate objects and trees. Companion customization will consist of which orifice you want to penetrate and how hard the companions try to fight back as you rape romance them.

I know most Codexians hate Dragon Age.

Where'd you get this idea? There are a number of posters who enjoy it. Our resident review of it is quite positive: http://www.rpgcodex.net/content.php?id=195

"Really it seems to boil down to this: Dragon Age has undeniable flaws, some glaring, some less-so. To some, the truly brilliant moments easily outshine those flaws. To others, the brilliant moments aren't brilliant enough, or don't happen often enough, so the flaws stand-out more and bring the entire experience down. I think both perspectives are perfectly legitimate, and, like so many other things, really boil down to personal preference. And really, the "undeniable flaws with brilliant moments/features/etc." describes pretty much every great RPG I've ever played."

I liked it, though for other reasons than Vault Dweller. Don't let the small number of extremely vocal people who yell 'shit' at everything lead you to the conclusion that they speak for the entire 'dex.

DA2, however, was a massive pile of donkey-shit, and I have no reason whatsoever to believe DA3 will in anyway be different.

In all fairness I liked DA:O THIS MUCH, but DA2 sucked the dogs balls. Marginally better than Arcania, worse than Forsaken Gods in it's original iteration. Knowing EA and Bioware I can safely feel confident that a DA3 will be much closer to latter with some feeble pandering to those that don't want more DA2.

I don't know what the fuck you guys are talking about; BioWare has been providing me with more entertainment since the release of Dragon Age II than I ever would have imagined. I hope this trend continues.

For the record, I liked Origins too, but I'm not sure how it could compare to seeing the dreams of BSNers being crushed year after year.

This is just pathetic marketing speak. What it means is that there will be streaming in Bethesda style rather than separate area loading every couple of steps. Certainly it's an improvement, but suggesting that is means the game is going to be some epic 10 to the power of 'n' size increase in content is crap. Considering how each Bioware game has become smaller and smaller(with the bastard child DA:O being the exception) I'd say it will have the 'open world' of Arcania in size.
