You're not missing much anyway. The scenes are 2 minutes long, heavily censored, and without voice acting. Decent VN tho, but I'd recommend waiting for summer to read it. It's more immersive that way. Read Kanon in the meantime instead. Though if I'm being honest if you've read one Maeda story you've read them all.
Eh, I already read both. Unfortunately both were the all ages versions. It's a matter of principle on my part as I heavily dislike when vn devs turn +18 novels into AA.

Muv-Luv Alternative has some neat moments in it, but they are buried underneath a very long and overly drawn out runtime. You have to slog through the first half which is boring and is largely a retread of Extra's plot, and then even after that the VN is plagued by having dialogue scenes that should be 1/3rd of their length, repetitive "I have changed!" inner monologues, etc. The VN should have been less than half the length it actually was. The writing also has an issue where it unduly frames Takeru as being a bad man compared to the girls for unjustified reasons. That being said, the soundtrack is great and there are a couple really high tension arcs. Grossly overrated but still worth checking out but just be prepared that it is a large time commitment for overall low fun per hour.

You can finish DDLC in one sitting. Just play it, or even better, play Totono if you havent.

Muv-Luv Alternative is pure cringe down the vein; avoid it like the plague. I recommend to try Muv-Luv original though. It's dumb, but fun and lighthearted. Writing and characters are pretty good for a visual novel. I especially enjoyed Tama's line and feel a bit guilty about it.

100% completed DDLC, including the "secret" ending. Took more than 5 hours.

Considering that the game has only 10 CGs, it wasn't hard to do, if it wasn't for those fucking poems. I tried to find a true end myself before looking up a guide and I had to write so many of those poems that I memorized 90% of the words that each girl likes.

Short but decent VN. Clearly not made by Japanese, which made it cringe at times.

Anyway, going to start MuvLuv now.

If you want to read all of Extra make sure you arm yourself with a lot of patience. And I mean A LOT. Honestly it's better if you just read Sumika's and Meiya's routes and then jump straight to Unlimited because the difference in writing quality is palpable. I think that overall Unlimited is the best written part of the trilogy, simply because the pacing is just right. Alternative has of course many unforgettable moments, but it suffers from bad padding in quite a few places. Anyway, good luck. I'm not sure if you'll be able to finish the entire thing. My advice is to take a break between the 3 parts because otherwise you will suffer burnout.

Yeah, I liked her route as well. Chizuru's and Kei's routes were garbage however. I almost gave up on reading the thing but thankfully my OCD kicked into maximum overdrive and I managed to plough through all that badly written drama. I think the main issue is that the two are extremely unlikable characters. I could never understand the fascination that people have for them.

I like Kei and Chizuru but their routes are kinda annoying and there is too much senseless drama. They are cool as side characters that you interact with in moderation but focusing on them on their routes is where they get tiresome. Both them and their character arcs are a better fit for Kimi ga nozomu imho.

This man is the fucking troll!! Meya's root is absolutely THE WORST!!! Choose Tama or Chizuru. Do not bother with Unlimited unless you love endless gay jokes.

Hooked on Muv-Luv Extra. Did Sumika/Meiya and Class Rep's routes. Started the loli's route now. I can't possibly imagine what will happen in this route because Tama looks and acts like a 9 year old. Please don't make me go to hell for this.

Muv-Luv taught me something about lolis. We should not discriminate against women with smaller body types.

I mean, technically she's as old as the MC, right? ...right??

[Removed because people reported me for loli porn itt, lol]

Edit:
Finished all of Extra, going to start with Unlimited now. No burnout so far, let's see if I'll take a break before starting the last game. I have to say it's nice to find something that can capture my attention is such a way. I did Kei's route last and it was a very uncomfortable read, which I guess was the intention. One issue I have with it is that she had a boyfriend and they were talking about getting married but she was still a virgin? That's kind of less believable than the MC getting run over by a car on the way to the hospital.

Overall all routes were solid but jesus christ is Sumika annoying. Based on the title screen of Unlimited she isn't in the game? I hope that's the case because I really can't stand her.
