I have begun reading Full Metal Daemon Muramasa.

It starts with a serious sword duel, then devolves into grotesque sadism, and then a blurb about "this is not a story about heroes", and then...

So far it has the same problem as Witch of the Holy Night, but worse: there is far too much prose, which is redundant in a VISUAL NOVEL where we can see and hear what is going on. I don't need poetry. 90% of plot happens in dialogue, not in prose. Trim the fat!
It's not a story about heroes, it's about sword autism.
Writer is a sword otaku as you can see in both of his works.

Not sure if I will continue.

The insectoid mechas transforming into WW2-fighter plane themed flying samurai mechas is pretty cool. The breakdown of the combat techniques was pretty interesting, though the way it was delivered was a little unnatural. But it took quite a while to get to that point, and as I was reading, the characters were being pretty vulgar. Several characters act like cardboard cutout stock anime archetypes, like the yakuza or the random townsfolk or the school faculty, etc. But one horrible event towards the end really soured me, and then the ending of the prologue greatly dampened my enthusiasm when the titular main character beheads a schoolboy, apparently to prevent there from being any witnesses? I don't want to root for an evil character.

Playing Doki Doki Literature Club Plus!

I know that this is supposed to be a horror VN, and it even warns you about it when you boot up the game, but I'm early in... and I just feel shame for playing it.

The h-scenes were perfect in my opinion. Not too long as usual, just the right length. Of course there is rape. The first h-scene in particular shocked me on my first read that I had to put it aside for a few years. So this was my second time reading it.
From what I remember, every H-scene is rape, as in the MC can't even get it up if there is some mild form of consent for the handholding process.
Most fucked up scene was the end of act 2 for me, pretty chilling voice performance from a character that deliver most of his line in the most deadpan way possible.
The MC is a beast, for sure.

Pretty much every Spike Chunsoft VN is heavily discounted on Steam btw

All of them are at least ok, only one I didnt like was AI

This seems to have become a seasonal occurrence for them. Last time they did this, I grabbed their entire catalogue, except for Anonymous;Code. Not sure if it hadn't been released yet or if the discount was not deep enough to catch my interest.

Guess I'll go and snatch that one now, too.

As for AI... I liked the first one, even though I thought at the time it was one of Uchikoshi's weakest works. The sequel, though? Yeah, that one's ridiculous.

I only played the first AI game, the faggotry itself was the least of its problems. The lol so random humor was tiresome for me and the story was really disjointed. Plus the big reveal just was too obvious. If the second one is worse its an easy skip.

The scariest part of Doki Doki Literature Club is the quality of the poems these girls write. Truly a thing of nightmares. I still have PTSD from reading that shit.

I downloaded it for laughs from f95. It says at least 17 hours there, steam version must have been carved up like thanksgiving turkey.

VN is pretty much what i expected. This is what happens in the small prologue (first 5-10 minutes):

It starts with supervillainess unleashing her minions to mass rape civilian girls. Local superheroine barges in to stop her. Unsurprisingly receives a lenghty gang rape. In comes the local "superman"... and as a punishment rapes everything that moves with his giant dick.

Marvel should take notes.

Clockup visual novels are usually nothing but long ass string of H-scenes with barely any plot to tie them together. Best to just find the full save somewhere and just look at the gallery and see which fetishes you like. No point in reading the entire thing.

Never thought I'd see the day, either. Now we only need a retranslation of Cartagra - the HD version, preferably.

Euphoria was the first VN I played? I think? It might've been 999. Anyway, Clockup will forever have a soft spot in my traumatized heart. Didn't really like maggot baits, though. Thanks for posting this, will go at the top of my backlog/pirated games folder.

I only played Maggot Baits, because i like to check edgy weeb VNs that make people butthurt. People couldn't stfu about it so i had to see for myself. A lot of it was just crazy monotonous guro shit i skipped and also countless rapes. But outside of that it was surprisingly interesting and all the torture the characters went through kinda made sense in the end and explained in the story.

Never played Euphoria, but i might. I read a lot of books lately, so VNs like Cartagra and some others are unfortunately piling up on my disk.
