Shira has their own store so i don't think it will

They are owned by Johren right? Granted Johren store is even worse

And putting it in Steam and having the patch for free is probably tiddier for most people

MAGES. has announced remastered versions of science-fiction suspense visual novels Ever 17: The Out of Infinity and Never 7: The End of Infinity for PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC (Steam). Both titles will be released digitally on March 6, 2025 in Japan and Asia, with the PC version being published by Spike Chunsoft. An “Ever 17 / Never 7 Double Pack” for Switch will also be available, which includes both games on one cartridge. It will support English, Japanese, and Traditional Chinees language options (in Asia, at least).
Sadly, it seems the remaster's script will be the version from the Xbox360 release, not the one Uchikoshi wrote. If that's true, this will be a hard pass.

Enjoying Chaos;Child lately. Can anyone recommend anything similar in writing or generally speaking?
You probably have already read them but Steins;Gate and Chaos;Head are pretty safe picks.

I'm not sure but isn't Steins Gate, Chaos Head and Chaos child are in the same universe?

also
Chaos;Head is a visual novel game in which the player takes the role of Takumi Nishijou, an otaku and shut-in, who experiences delusions
:-D
Yeah, the story goes to pretty great length to make him rather insufferable 95% of the time.

Some of his delusions are pretty cool tho

The h-scenes were perfect in my opinion. Not too long as usual, just the right length. Of course there is rape. The first h-scene in particular shocked me on my first read that I had to put it aside for a few years. So this was my second time reading it.
From what I remember, every H-scene is rape, as in the MC can't even get it up if there is some mild form of consent for the handholding process.
Most fucked up scene was the end of act 2 for me, pretty chilling voice performance from a character that deliver most of his line in the most deadpan way possible.

Japanese devs need to shed Visa/MC and stop depending on Steam for distribution. Understandably bigger name would like to self-publish but at this point Steam takes 30% anyway and I doubt Jast or MG shop takes more than that.

Key has been on obsession of going "legit" and stopped making eroge so that's might be why they don't do work with other shop front?

Key could release their games on gog, unfortunately I read once on the NN discord that is Steam is around 90%+ of their sales and thats why they were desperate when Tenshi was rejected.

They didn't. Key had VNs on DLsite, even DRM-free, but they delisted them. And there are enough other stores as well. It's just that those Japanese stores as well as Japanese publishers are retarded.

It's because of retards who insist on buying VN's from Steam that we can't have nice things.

I have begun reading Full Metal Daemon Muramasa.

It starts with a serious sword duel, then devolves into grotesque sadism, and then a blurb about "this is not a story about heroes", and then...

So far it has the same problem as Witch of the Holy Night, but worse: there is far too much prose, which is redundant in a VISUAL NOVEL where we can see and hear what is going on. I don't need poetry. 90% of plot happens in dialogue, not in prose. Trim the fat!

I'd argue the opposite: visual novels are much more visual than books, sure, but they're still a literary medium and there's nothing wrong with elegant use of language. If done well, it can enhance the experience.

Sadly, good prose in VNs is mostly exclusive to a few OELNVs and a couple translations carried out by people who are good writers, not just converters of japanese into another language.

Maybe one day a mad fan who could be writing novels will competently translate Albatross Koukairoku, but that's unlikely to happen. In fact, I'd say it's more likely for visual novels to somehow become a respected literary medium, enough for a professional translator to take a crack at AK, and we all know the chances of that happening are depressingly close to zero.
