Box set available now... For 400$ ?

Hmm, and you can get a printed copy of a ADOM P&P for 40$ though.

He's not really listening to what people actually want the most, he just does the things he wants to do. Like the P&P RPG.

What the fuck are they going to do with that money, seriously. Even Prosper's kickstarter is more reasonable.

Basically, the developer feels that he is a big shot now and he deserves to be paid that much for the time he will put in coding this patch.

Seriously, he basically said as much.
What a terrible guy to hope for nominal compensation for decades of work.

If the kickstarter exists to retroactively compensate him for work he did in the mid 90s, then fine.

But he should be honest about that fact. The patch that he proposes to give us for 48,000$ isn't very impressive.

This campaign is slowing down pretty badly. I have been calculating how much money it needs daily, and it went from about $500/day a few weeks ago to $800/day today. I'm not sure if I want it to fail or not, but it's looking pretty iffy at the moment.

Now TB wants to focus more on the tile support: http://www.ancientdomainsofmystery.com/2012/08/how-do-you-feel-about-slight.html
So I finally am changing my mind:
*Tile support for ADOM seems to be possible with reasonable effort (kudos to Zeno for the flexible way in which NotEye integrates into other games!).

*Tile support can be beautiful. Having seen Krys' demo tiles so far I'm for the first time ever willing to leave ASCII characters behind me and play with tiles. And that for sure means something.

*I now think that ADOM should have tile support.

There's even a small WIP for discussion

At least he's finally starting to listen to the fanbase and not do random things he thinks are a good idea (ADOM p&p).

Except he still seems pretty blind to the fact that his campaign is struggling. Why is he even talking about putting tiles in stretch goals at all? Focusing on and emphasizing the tileset would be exactly the kind of thing that would help this campaign succeed. At this point it doesn't appeal at all to people that aren't already fans of the game.

Implementing support for tile sets would be kind of a big deal and very awesome.

Assuming that he allowed the community to make their own tilesets and substitute them in place of the default one.

If sources were open, all bugs were squashed already.
And most tilesets sucks. ADOM is a beautiful game, graphic whores can fuck themselves.

"Beautiful" might be stretching it a little bit.
What Awor said. Between stupid cartoony tilesets using 1600x1280 and drawed by art school dropouts (or, God forbid, programmers), I'll take crisp, clean and beautiful ADOM ASCII any time.
BTW, I play Dungeon Crawl SS in the ASCII too. :smug:

On the total unrelated note, I don't bothered with the pre-crowning this time, and saves from 1.1.1 don't supported in 1.2.0. Seems I fucked chance to get my beloved bracers of war. :( Also I play as non-caster class for the first time. Gemology rocks (pun intended). My weaponsmith have 24 learning now thanks to blessed crystals of knowledge.

Weird how these things pick up speed after they reach the goal. I didn't think this was going to hit $48000 at all, but it jumped like $10000 in a day or two and now it's just rocketing up.
