Now filter that to resolutions of Steam users who have VtM :B. :obviously:
yeah that would be something, also FU, now i want to install VtMB... and that combo-mod that was out last week... mmm.. luckly (!?) my free time is lowwwww :-|

Jesus.... Thanks, Licaon.
And another thing, maybe you can mention Oscar to force the game to save the settings on every settings change and not only on game exit? Now the settings get lost once the game crashes :(.

Aha, I didn't realise you were from the new generation, right 'bra'? Better get back to kickin' and' hangin' with gang and yo' gettoblaster...foo.

Word of advice newfag: before you vomit in rage to compensate for your blue balls, try to comprehend what someone writes first before throwing random abuse.
Oh no, mommy, the big scary internet man doesn't like me! Help!

Whatever, go to hell. I was calling you an idiot for saying "Pull that shit" is "Nigga talk", not that you were somehow misquoting. And if you believe people never cursed at any given point in history then you are sadly misinformed.

Go take your brain dead, racist bullshit back to 4chan. I'm not even going to dignify your 'newfag' absurdity with a response.

This, please. Especially since the most common game crash for me seems to be "Go to Main Menu, tweak graphic settings, click contin--BOOM".

I would also echo the sentiment to have a font size slider. Defaulting the font size based on resolution is great, but no one ever went wrong by giving the user more options.

Now, now... boys... lets not go into this prestigious type of discussion in every thread, hmm?

This and the Kickstarter threads show the Codex at its best. Let's not let the team down guys.

Why not use the whole screen area on different screens and not just part of it? Example from the beginning of the game (1680*1050):

So much black around the character screen, while it could be bigger. Would make it easier to see your character when creating him/her and easier font readability too.

Also, I don't like the way the dialogue screen is right now, you have to zigzag your gaze to the upper and lower part of the screen the whole time while reading, it's kinda annoying. Make it more like fallout:

GPr7A.jpg

Finally, I'm sure this has been said a lot but the interface is so silent! Needs more "clicky" sounds when pressing stuff. (except dialogue, it's fine)

That's the minor gripes I have noticed so far. Obligatory: Great job otherwise guys! ;)

Edit: re-sized images to be more bearable

No talking heads. No Linux version. No multiplayer. No achievements. No modding kit. Copied skyrim UI. Boring. 3/5 for effort. FPS next time ok.

Not sure about moving down the upper dialogue window so it rests above the dialogue choices window - it would obscure too much and it's nice to still be able to see the world while you talk.

What could be better is putting them side by side. Look at those dialogue choices, there's barely any text there. What a waste of screen space.

Or you could just forget the concept of two separate windows and put them together.

I found the dialog window weird at first, but after some hours playing it became quite natural. In the end, it's just the standard aversion for "new things".

I didn't know there was a butthurt newfag here with a chip on his shoulder pushing his views in every thread. I use the term 'nigga' like most people here, as a jokey shorthand to describe a particular style of speech/mannerism/whatever. Frankly, as a red, I find being called a racist offensive. Scumbag should fuck off back to the Biofag forums and express his love for politically correct white on black buttsex in the next Bio masterpiece. The poor dear is too precious for this site.

Back on track....AoD certainly has potential. Not quite what I expected, and the town is a bit empty. Would be nice to overhear more random conversations and stuff, but at the same time I wouldn't want to be forced to talk to 100 NPC's just to find the 2 or 3 that have something useful to say. Getting quite a few 'fall into the world' type of glitches along with general crashes. I know it's just a demo but still...for something in development this long, it seems like a lot. Hope that doesn't mean it will be a few more years before we see the finished product.

Played a bit as knight and managed to loose all fights... it is better just to pick the social skill for him than see him failing fights even with scum like raiders.... The mission when you assaulted Aurelian Legionares 3:4 was precious. It is not I didn't like it felt fresh after forced epicnes of Skyrim and Biowhore games. So you have to choose from start if you want to play warrior, rogue or diplomat or you won't be able to complete even the demo... Cash, equipment and even the points are tight here. :incline:

Since I know a couple of things about how to implement a UI in different resolutions this is pretty much the way to go, unless you want want to spend a really big amount of time making many different UI sizes. Scaling would look bad, centering it is the way to go. I suppose it could have some sort of background instead of just this black one.

As far as the UI is concerned I believe the most important thing would be to add the option for bigger font sizes.

I'll say again, there is too many quests railroaded with forced fast travel. Sometimes it feels more like an interactive story. Keeping shit under control is one thing, but constraining players when it's unneccesary is another.

One of the main questlines got bugged, it appears. Things happened roughly like this, don't remember the exact details:
[normal part]
1) I was sent to talk to Mercatos by the merchant guild;
2) Talked to him directly without asking the thief master for help;
3) Won the game of chance through an intelligence check;
4) Failed to persuade him to give me any information;
5) The merchant guild was disappointed, but I persuaded them to extract information from Mercato by force;
6) <the whole assassin/proof sequence>;
7) Failed to extract any proof from the commander of the guard; extracted his signature;
8) Failed to forge documents;
9) <seemingly failed the quest, as the only option left was to side with the commander, so I went off to other things>
[/normal part]
10) Accidentally went into the thieves' guild; got a dialogue with the guild master about Mercato when I could convince the thief to help me gamble (refused);
11) Gambled with Mercato again, won gold again - as if nothing happened before;
12) Managed to get him to cooperate this time, but rudely;
13) Went back to the merchant guild, the whole dialogue repeated, i.e. I was sent to the assassins' guild again, etc.;
14) I was eventually sent to find proof. Failed to convince Mercats to help due to previous threats;
15) Went to the guard leader, but he acted as if he already had a talk with me, so the bug ended here.

Now I have two quests to talk to Mercato and two quests to find the evidence.

Some other comments:
- Allow the users to change opacity in dialogues. It is difficult to read text on some of the lighter backgrounds.
- Can't talk to people over a till, need to approach them. Odd.
- A lot of places where tooltips are expected have none. Say, "general skills" in the character generation screen.
- Some sort of a built-in manual a la Spiderweb Games would be nice. I take it there will be one under the quest mark.
- Some dialogues have illogical exclusions. For example, you can ask a trader about techniques and schematics. If you ask about schematics, then the question about techniques disappears forever.
- Mistakes: bellow instead of below (smith), aint instead of ain't (guard)

Has anyone mentioned the font sizes yet? I don't know if VD got the message about font sizes. Did anyone notice that the font is too small? Is there some way to change the font size? This game is totally fonted up. font, font , FONT.

OK. Everyone can shut up about the goddamn font.

I love the difficulty of the combat and the limited resources even for the Praetor dude that I created. I imagine he is one of the better equipped starting builds. I specialized in Axe and started the game with a sword and a dagger. The dagger I get, but maybe start the character with the weapon in which they are trained? It might make more sense.

I am going to try several other builds and this game is going to be purchased day one. I am hooked. Are you going to take pre-orders when it gets closer to release?

Skipped reading the thread so I may form an unbiased opinion.

I saw this was released and left work early to get at it. I have the biggest, stupid grin on my face as I type this up with the title screen music playing in the background.

Nope. What about them do you ever mean?

Agreed.

There were some plans to enable preordering after this demo got out....

Fix the demo, and then kickstarter it.

Seems that you would get a lot more pre-orders that way then doing your own pre-order system. Though I am sure you have reasons for whatever pre-order system you intend to use...

Either way I will pre-order it, though I am skipping on the demo as I am already convinced that I am interested and would rather just wait for the finished product.

well if you hadn't noticed this was the bug I was talking about.The fight is over but the icon with crutches are still over there.

Also do you have some sort of bug-tracker ?(for example mantis). how does one report the bugs?

It's a great game.

Some quick points to add:
- Is there a combat difficulty slider somewhere? I think the combat is pretty awesome, but for every guy like me there's 50 who won't put up with difficult combat and will quit the game. Even if it was something as simple as raising or lowering the player's and/or npcs' hit points...
- Very few crashes on my old windows xp pc with its prehistoric Gforce 3. Haven't tested on my newer laptop yet.
- At the start of my first game the camera scrolled off screen really fast so my screen was filled with black. Had I not seen the center on pc button, I would have thought the game broke. In small areas esp. the camera should be prevented from scrolling too far.

Took me about 30 minutes to die.

Spoiler:
The guy in the market offering the "deals" tricked my streetwise diplomatic character. :(
The death scenes are very impressive, I got a kick out of reading the specific description of how and why I died.

Vince has said that he didn't want difficulty sliders because it would render having different builds moot. Let's say you have an "Easy" difficulty; then a character who would be a mediocre fighter at best normally can wipe the floor with people he otherwise wouldn't have a chance with. The rationale is that it would give the player way too much leeway to be an uber-badass jack-of-all-trades.

Wow, I just used a shit-ton of hyphens there.

Makes sense. Like this it really forces you to specialise: either you are a fighter or a talker, not be able to take advantage of both.
