He writes thruthz, but lacks style. Mondblut does it best:

The kind of people who refer to themselves as "indie* developers" couldn't make a good game if the continued attachment of their tiny balls to their bodies depended on that. So they take a postmodernist pose and pretend their games are actually intended to be shitstains and that's where their value comes from. Yeah, right.

* - I too insist on making a distinction between the hipster "indie" scene of today with its XBLA/appstore/whatever "15 minutes of fame" shallow agenda and the small teams of yesteryear who aimed to make low-cost but still professional niche games using shareware, self-publishing and similar models. Including some which are still active or are new but continue the old practices and ethics.

And this one is signature worthy:

convivialist said:
Like how there's "independent film." but people sometimes refer to those films as "indies"?

Duh, an amateur home child-raping porn is definitely "independent" as in "homemade", "low-cost", "small-team", but you'll be hard-pressed to convince the artfags in the "indie movie" scene that it qualifies.

Mainstream indies are just like AAA games minus cost production. Shit like Braid, Limbo, Super Meat Boy are the same shit as AAA(in fact, more shitty). Where is mondblut to bash indie turds?

I already did, and it's not like anything changed to warrant another take.

The IGF part is lulzworthy, though. Nowadays "indie" hipsters cannot into anything that needs more than one button to control, why am I not surprised?

In unrelated news, we entered the demo into IGF 2013 in Oct. I've never thought that we would win, obviously, but hoped for a nomination. Didn't happen, sadly. The judge couldn't get out of the town and felt that the demo was "seriously limited". I explained but I guess the damage was already done. Oh well...

Once again, teleporting derails this game. Had this judge been allowed to immersively explore the map on his own and perhaps kill some Roman kobolds for some extra skill points, AOD would be claiming its rightful place among such masterpieces such as Cart Life.

Everyone is allowed to explore the map on his own in AoD. But the lack of kobold encounters for some easy skill points is disturbing.

Yeah, not sure you'd want to win their "approval".
It would be good publicity.
Still is: "You think VVVVVVV or Super Meat Boy are hard? The best indie players can't even open AoD's MAP!"
VVVVV, SMB and Limbo are games designed to fool the players into thinking they are hard. These games resemble old games being played with Save State/Load State. So even if i am a crappy player, its just best to stick to older games with save states.

Best luck to you VD and the folks at Iron Tower.
I really love AoD demo. Especially the combat.
The lack of trash mobs and filler combats made me cry in happiness.
Too bad I can't pre order it at this time, maybe I'll buy it next year.
Need all the money for my uncle's medical cost.
Congrats for the greenlight once again!! Success and Godspeed to you. :salute:

Maybe they should make the maps travel options look more like buttons. I'm not surprised that some people look at the words and dismiss as just text.

I'm genuinely surprised. You put a chimp in front of a word document, he'll be clicking on anything that sticks out.

Today's retarded gamers aren't like chimps. They're more like very dumb dogs, who have to be taught how to do everything with Pavlovian reinforcement.

Would it really hurt them to add an exit grid to the game? And the teleporting is pretty awful.

Congrats to @Vaultdweller and all the amazing crew at Iron Tower for getting into Steam. You will certainly be wallowing in money now, all of it well deserved (well save maybe that you announced this game years too early ;) )

Hopefully now that you have lots of experience as well as a powerful and readymade engine, you can churn out a turnbased Sword and Sorcery game with many classes, magic (and katanas)

Vault Dweller, awesome work so far. Plan to order it as soon as it's out. (Don't think that the people who pre-ordered are the only one's who'll buy. Some of us just hate paying for games far in advance of actually playing them.)

Me too. :bro:

Thanks bro.
Please let the boring filler combats to JRPG games.
We need more C&C in our RPG more than ever.
I'm sure real RPG developers will learn something from AoD if they invest their precious time to play it.
Whereas popamole developers like today Bioware won't ever notice AoD presence and keep making teen sex fantasy abominations for the Bieber generation.
