Had lots of autistic fun making meteor imperial armor, murmillo helmet, and spiked club. I use a shield, but with the new constructs guarding the elevator in the ziggurat maybe there is enough for a two hander (if you don't already use the widowmaker axe, which I decomposed). The final basilieos thieves ambush was funny... they raped me over two turns, but not enough damage to kill me! Probably will be a shitty build for fighting Agathoth though

I finished the game yesterday with a merc. P. fun, could even do some lorecrafting torwards the end with both at 8.

Was a bit disappointed that the PA was worthless for me, how would you build a char to make the most use out of it?

Raise dex through the roof, go swords or dagger (depends on how hard you tank strength; gotta beat enemy DR somehow), block optional (you can just ignore the PA shield; dodge builds don't have to worry as much about PA's low DR), and maybe alchemy, to spam neurostimulant. Laugh as you enjoy double the AP of every opponent.

You can also do a ranged build that tanks STR completely by going crossbows and using the Bolter. Only thing that sucks about that is that you will miss out on fighting the demon in Zamedi at your full potential since you can't get the Bolter before he's dead and you'll likely need the Bolter to get the PA. So that's two of the harder late-game fights you won't be a superman for, which is a shame. You can still kill Thoragoth in like 1-2 turns with crits tho'

PA is better if you are a blocker and unlock all modes with high lore and power tubes.

Is there a follow-up quests/content to Kemnebi?

Nope. That's one thing that sucks in AoD. You spend time creating ties with characters that disappear. I don't know if Vince was trying to be realistic or avoid Bioware syndrome.

Really you can kill Agatoth with the bolter? When I tried I had painfully low THC (guess because he uses a shield to block and gets bonuses against ranged?)

PA is still cool for dodgers. It's the only way for my first character to go toe-to-toe with Agathoth, and survive the Dead River toxic air.

Damn shame. Wish they would improve on this with Colony Ship RPG, or if they're up for it just add some more content to AoD sometime in the future.

Not if
you weaken him first with the expired vial from the well
I know. But my first character, who went toe-to-toe with Agathoth didn't had Lore, nor any means to achieve a Large Module.
But that's the beauty of this game. You can go on, anyway. However, I do had some kind of metagaming mindset, i.e I made separate saves on purpose to see what option takes me where.

Of course, because it is OP. The problem is that you can't use two-hand weapons.
Not a problem with a meteorite khopesh :smug:

I could use a few tips here. I'm playing as a praetor for house Daratan and have done all content that I was able to resolve in Maadoran up to the point of "The Alliance", where I have to speak to Serenas. To do so, I have several options but they all have severe drawbacks (or are not available at all).

1. I was told I could offer a gift to Serenas of at least 2.000 gold. I have over 5.000 but no option to give him money.
2. Lady Lorenza wants me to kill lord Senna. This gets me banned from the city, despite the streetwise check with the IG being green.
3. Promising Strabos to make him a lord. I don't have the persuasion to convince Serenas to do so, thus breaking my word.

My streetwise is 5 and charisma is 6. I don't have any points to spare and, save for becoming arena champion, no quests to gain skillpoints from (I'm having a really hard time to beat the current champion).

So, either I'm banned or I have to break my word. Are there any options here for me?

Praetor playthrough is intended to be played as a talkie jus as a merc playthrough is intended to be played as a fighter. You can play it as a hybrid, but is more difficult, since you can lose your skill points. If you don't want to restart the game you should try exploring Maadoran and the other locations to earn some SPs and go back with better streetwise.

I think you need etiquette at 4-5 to give Serenas the gold

Thanks.

Yes, specialisation seems the way to go, for a newb like me at least. I only changed 1 ch for 1 pe else it is just the praetor as the game suggests at the start. I did all the content I could find, except for the final arena fight. It seems I wont be getting much more sp in Maadoran for this character. I could continue, but I think I'll just start over, see if I fare a little better now that I'm getting the hang of it.

Invest all your SPs in civic skills (streetwise, persuasion, lore, etc.) and Charisma, Intelligence and Perception. Avoid fights.

Try using bolas and fire on the arena champ if you wanna get that bit done with before you move on. You can probably fuck him up real good with fire if you have Kadmos' Skewer. Unless he just starts throwing shit at you...

I don't think praetors necessarily need to be pure talker, I had lots of fun with a hybrid one. The problem is just that hybrids require very careful skillpoint allocation and especially so for praetors because maadoran won't be available later, so you need to get everything done before you leave. For instance, I have a save-game with not too different skills from yours, but I had the stats to go into the Abyss and get that SP, did not put anything into CS/trading. Also making a swordsman means you don't need to invest as much into your offense skill because of the +20 thc from that gladius you can buy. IIRC beating the arena champ was a bitch (especially because I had 4 CON), but I managed eventually with enough nets/bolas/fire/bombs even though I only had 6 in swords and 8 in dodge.

I agree though that this is not something you should try on your first couple of playthroughs. I think this was my fifth or sixth one.

All lies, proper hybrids need to be able to beat the arena champion and have at least persuasion 5, streetwise 5, lore 8 and crafting 6 at the end of maadoran or it doesn't count.

If that's what your going for then you also need a minimum of xy5(6)877 in stats, but do everything is a category above regular hybrids. You can also replace 5&5 with more in lore and int.

Thanks.

CHA is best allocated in chunks, either 4/7/9(10), the values in between ones offer very little. I'd recommend pure talker for a first run, easiest way to get the hang of things.

hybrid and jack of all trades is not the same thing you fucking retard
Oh my, I'm sorry I triggered your pedantic autism by humorously suggesting we were talking about awesome characters and not boring characters.
edit:

I found that 4 con works too, but the 877 is probably a pretty strict requirement, yes.

Baardhaas, if you have old saves from this playthrough, you can try this

when you are received at the palace, you have the option to intercept and kill the assassins that are after Gaelius. If you do this, your playthrough changes and you won't need the same skill checks

Thanks, but I don't have the savegames any more. I've started a new playthrough where I'm working for the IG and helping Antidas' cause. I'm much more of a talker and less of a fighter, allthough I still fare quite well in battles. I really like the (poisoned) spear and shield combination. I hardly do any damage, but have a lot of staying power to let the poison do its work.

Managed to kill that Widowmaker dude, and suddenly realised why he was so hard to beat when I saw his gear. Holy shit. Stole his hat and axe immediately, but the armour was a tad too heavy for my liking; I prefer to stay at 11 AP for a targeted attack and a quickie. Currently replaying a bunch of my playthrough since I accidentally stayed in (what I didn't realise was) the final area long enough for all of my auto/quick saves to be in there, unable to exit, and the last hard save was a while back. I wasn't done yet, damnit!

I noticed when I did go through the final motions I got a Discworldian chest (sadly without the legs), but that seemed pointless since it was all over 1 fight later anyway. Is there a way to get it earlier? Seems like it would be useful for all of these oddities and crafting materials, and especially that 35lb helmet (which I probably can't even use because I'm an ignorant thicko).
