I haven't seen a QuickShot joystick (like the one on the left) in over a decade.
I have one exactly like that. Although it's damaged and lost some of its functionality, it worked well enough to be fully usable last time I checked it.

That is hilarious,
by the time your game loads the train would have reached its destination

Maybe one day I will have such awesome collection of old computers. Pity, I have almost nothing non-PC from time before ultimate PC victory. Only several Spectrum clones and parts of soviet computers and periphery.
And this

with C64 interface.
Luzur, I like what people like you still exists.

Strange, for me it displays normally playthrough of "International karate" for C64 on Opera browser.

Anyway, that Hubbard speech was very nice to see. I'm lucky enough to have been part of the C64/Amiga community (wasn't creating anything though) in the second half of 80s and first half of the 90s in Croatia and i really remember that even as a user i felt completely what Hubbard is talking about - freedom, creativity and pioneering spirit of everyone in the scene in those days. Programmers, musicians, designers - everyone. It was really a platform that somehow felt like more than just a computer - because of both, possibilities of the hardware and community together. It's true what Hubbard said (in terms of sound, but i think it was a general thing) that PCs in the early Amiga days seemed like funny, retarded machines and companies like Microsoft and IBM felt like they had no clue what they're doing - at least in terms of multimedia.

I wonder if great SP games like this will ever come back. They had no grinding , no levels, no time wasting. You just get into the game and have fun.

And having fun is where it is all about , amirite?

I have been playing the extended version while waiting for the new one. If you haven't played it yet like me, I figure it will certainly last at least until the Ultimate version is released.

This is exactly what i miss the most. Games on C64 and Amiga used to be just pure fun. get into the game, have challenge, good gameplay and lots of fun. Those games needed nothing from the outside because the gameplay itself was very fun and very addictive. That quality is almost impossible to find today.

Isn't that what the whole casual game craze is all about? Trine, Braid, Portal, that plants game, etc. all pretty much fit that bill. Perhaps not challenge, but that's relative anyway.

Toss in Paradroid and a few others, but pretty much the same for me.

I played mostly "casual" games on my C64 as I didn't have a disk drive and the only original games that came out were some masochistic platformers, shooters, etc.
And when it comes to pirated games on cassettes, all were compilations. It wasn't possible to buy a cassette with a full flight simulator, RPG, tactical or strategic game.

TBH, I have been playing everything on c64 back then. I wasn't selective at all.

The taste comes with years.
