From there the game began to feel a bit under-developed.

If you are wondering where "there" is, it's right after you finish creating your character. 'nuff said.
I opened the program for the first time, the developers divulged that the game hasn’t even entered beta testing yet, and it shouldn’t be judged on anything that doesn’t feel finished.
In this case, it's the entire game.

"some of the monsters around your starting point seem quite dangerous for a low-level character."

Sure, this is a big problem for players of Dungeon Siege or Kotor or etc. I had not found a dangerous monster until I met the boss monster in the endgame of Kotor.

Between now and then
If the game is too unfinished for a beta test, the balance probably needs a lot of adjustments. I think balance problems are quite usual in pre-beta-test state.

Well considering this title was supposed to be out before summer, why has it not been beta tested? This is now the second article I’ve seen that says this game seems unfinished. This is not a good sign. I am looking forward to this title, but I have a feeling this will be a very buggy game and will be ruined by the bugs. Another Wizards & Warriors seems possible with this.

I do agree, I also like this:

“The initial quest is easy to get, but hard to find, and some of the monsters around your starting point seem quite dangerous for a low-level character.”

If this is the case then that sounds good. It would be nice if there were a challenging crpg after all the cakewalks that have been released in the past couple of years. Also if quest are hard to find, this is another plus. I would like to use my brain rather than having the quests handed to me on a silver platter.

Also, the Wizardry games were hard when Bradley was on board. Combat was tough and the puzzles were tough; almost impossible to finish without some help. So maybe this is the way Bradley wants it and it’s not a matter of game balance that hasn’t been polished up, yet.

I'm just ignoring this game and instead looking forward to Guild Wars and Gauntlet, both of which promise better 'action rpg' experiences than Dungeon Lords. Unfortunately, Guild Wars is strictly online (though free), so it wont appeal to some of you.

Try five week from now. Well, four weeks because they have to master and mass produce the game as well as ship it. Remember..
