WTF is that n'wah talking about?

Well, he obviously never played Morrowind where 75% of the populace barely seemed to tolerate you until you threw money their way, became influential, or so powerful you could fry them with your mind.

They should have the smith charge you every time, the fee based on several factors including your race, faction status, etc., eventually becoming free and him even performing oral sex on you.

Sounds like a job for the modders of bethesda games.

The dark elves in Oblivion fluctuated between nigger and smurf, depending on the Complexion facegen value. Maybe it's just this one that looks yellowish.

and the rare, fluorescent green variety

In Oblivion everything is homogenous except for little hate pockets like Leyawiin. The People seem to instinctively look past race like they are above judging people based on culture and appearance. Its just the norm. Contrast to real life where only pockets are homogenous, and in a sort of politically correct inference we have to temper instinctive bigotry that must have formed in a society that is divided by class and race. This also seems to be true in Morrowind where they hate you no matter your race.

Skyrim isn't an RPG in the classic sense—it's a sword-and-sorcery simulation.

And so was Oblivion.

Yep. This in a nutshell is the main problem with Oblivion (aside from the engine): it isn't a game.

They hate you more if you're not Dunmer. Besides, even as a Dunmer, you're an imperialized one, an outsider coming from Cyrodiil - I guess quite a few natives would place you somewhere between "Not True Dunmer" and "Traitor to Your Own Race (TM)".

Same thing DraQ. If you hate everyone but you your tight kin then basically you hate everyone. Nobody hates like family.

But have they learned to sharpen their axes?

Nah, if I recall correctly they just turned all the weapon skills into one-handed, two-handed, etc. If you can't figure it out, just strip it out. That is the modern game development MO.

They still haven't worked out how to texture objects consistently so that they no longer look like they use wildly different resolutions
