It never fails to creep me out the way nerds fall over themselves to treat a 7 like an 11++ as soon as she expresses any interest in their loser hobby. Shockingly, spending 50% of your post-puberty time watching porn and the other 50% with dragon books and games isn't exactly a stud recipe.

Most nerds would be lucky to get a 3 or 4, so a 7 who happens to share any interest in their hobby (and so implies one less step out of the basement they have to take to obtain them) would seem to merit an 11+ reaction to me. But I agree that it seems to get manifested creepily.

I think you nailed it. I suspect the creepy comes from the porn and dragon books. Their affection can only manifest itself as avatar crotch shots and other vulgarity or pathetic white knighting.
