when bethesda says quests can be solvable in different ways, it means there's just another stupid dwarven puzzle box you can get.
Not only that, but you can chose to steal it quietly, kill the guy for it, or just ignore the quest alltogether.

CHOICES!

Well, Deus Ex 1 is more of an RPG than Morrowind/Oblivion will ever be and that's an FPS. I don't see why Bethesda shouldn't just shoot for that niche, instead of the one they're currently in (i.e. crap).

Bethesda should just make a fantasy-themed FPS and be done with it. I mean, Oblivion will be pretty close to that, but really, this whole "we're pretending to make an RPG" thing is just annoying. ROCKET LAUNCHERS!

That would take talent. Instead they have a dressup doll hiking simulator. Quite easy to develop....

Because Project Offset would so totally rape their pathedic asses in the "fantasy fps" genre.

Not even. Ignore a quest and you won't progress in that guild or the MQ, whereas you could ignore quests in Daggerfall and get others instead. All hail the NEW TES!!

All you have to do is go to a mage's guild and choose 'rest'. This saves your game and you can continue your journey another day!

As long as you don't sleep in Goldilock's bed, or else the Ordinators will arrest you for pediphelia!!!

Actually, if Bethesda could do some good combat, Morrowind or Oblivion wouldn't actually be half bad.

Of course, good combat also relies on having lots of enemies to fight and not just 2 on screen at any one time.

The prospect of a fantasy-themed FPS with visceral melee combat has me all hot and bothered for that FPS Might And Magic game coming out, and that Project Offset vaporware.

It is hard to have good combat with just one character, period. The best you can do is probably something mortal kombatlike or hexenlike. Strategy is pretty cut down when your whole group is one guy.

Spellcasting could be a little more strategic if they had a really interestign magic system but instead they have a fairly generic one, not one with subtle spells. But again part of that is the whole one man army concept - it limits the subtlety and specialization possible....

Get the bukkake cups out, it's that time again...

All you really need is something like Mount and Blade, and then build upon it! As for satisfying 1-on-1 melee combat in a first-person view, I'm hedging my bets with that Might & Magic game. The trailer looked sick.
