Balance is really important in that aspect and there's kind of a fine line between creating something super powerful and creating something overpowered. One advantage we do have going in though is that there's no level scaling so we can pretty much figure out what the minimum level is that a party would have to be to aquaire such a reward. Ultimately though it comes down to iteration, you just test-adjust-test over and over until you strike the balance you want.

Could you just give us the Linux client anyway?

As I've explained previously, if you have it running in OS X and Windows, you've pretty much already done all the required work aside from setting up a build script (plain Makefile, cmake, autotools, or something of your choice) and then building it.
