the mmorpg part sounds interresting
A bit. I think there are 2 MMOs right now worth observing- Tim's whatever and Guild Wars 2.

Seeing the opening cinematic and listening to the music for Arcanumf fills me with a great desire to reinstall it.

Thank you for posting this.

PS: Drog was right. Cain says that Arcanum was a "Victorian society with a mix of 18th Century technology and magic". Victorian = mid-late C19th. Drog is redeemed.

 :M

I had no idea that TOEE was made with the same engine as Arcanum though. Even understanding that it was heavily modified, there's such a massive difference in the art direction and the general style that I'd have never guessed.

Data types (items) and the parser from the Arcanum engine were reused in TOEE engine, while the graphics engine, character system and combat system were TOEE specific.

If delivered on the promises (and that's a very big if), this could be the first MMO I could try to play.

you don't seem to be able to grasp the general flow of someone talking. His talk about the Victorian era and the earlier mention of the 18th century is not connected directly. Basically he said they had that idea about a industrial revolution in a 18th century fantasy world that they built upon. Then he later says that it ended up "victorian looking". Possibly the first statment wasn't what they said back then or not. Is not about not knowing history.

Just trying to help you here Some moron.

No company on earth will EVER break from the WOW mold. Period. Look at the new Star Wars MMO coming out, it's basically WOW in space, with full voice acting.
Diggin up a bit.
That's not really fair, saying that because TOR is WoW with lightsabers MMOs won't change. It's a bioware game. They've never done anything original.
If you want to look further, you can read about Guild Wars 2. GW 1 was already nice and DIFFERENT from WoW, and the sequel will also have some interesting changes, like no dedicated heal class.

And I wouldn't be surprised if MMO Tim's working on would be something different.

Bethesda understood and adapted SPECIAL well.

:x :x

He either lies or he is stupid.

Bethesda did understand SPECIAL, they even got all the bits of the acronym right, strength perception endurance charisma intelligence agility and luck! Special!

And it was in their game! :D

(I think Cain is being sarcastic for the lulz)
