japanese christian tension was real circus. i remember reading about masamune date. basically nigga said "you can do your thingy but when shogunate pipo come - hide outside of cities". it was fine until surprise shogunate inspection decided to check countryside and met literal european catholic priest walking around.
or like they found cave used by christians with mary statue and locals just went "nothing to see here. it's just kanon."

Japan has very little regard for their own history, so not sure why anyone would expect Ubisoft to. (There was a documentary done in the early 2000s where several people were interviewed in Hiroshima and they had no recollection of anything egregious that had ever happened in the past)

TLDR; They turn their own figureheads into loli-fetishes for overweight, Jap pedophiles and western weebs to goon over.

Depict Yasuke as he was meant to be, as Brown Saber

Alternatively, the one pic I found on the booru (from a total of 4, not counting 6 asscreed fanarts)

A fallen nation...
"How do we make concept art?"
"Just google some "medieval Japan" images."

This is just anti-woke propaganda and, frankly, not worth any sort of uproar.

I mean, anecdotally, my own game concerns the day-to-day routine of a tough-as-nails yet world-weary cop in a city where tensions between law enforcement and the community are at an all-time high. Officer Liam O'Connor of the Chicago Metropolitan Police Department finds himself facing constant scrutiny from the public, with bystanders recording his every move on their smartphones and instantly uploading even the slightest mistake to global streaming services. Nevertheless, Liam remains dedicated to his job, believing in justice and serving his community, even when they don't appreciate it. You must guide him through the mean streets of a modern American city, handing out traffic violations to potentially violent citizens, pepper-spraying activists who refuse to demonstrate permits to assemble and appearing at his own son's career day.

And, yes, I too used some art from roughly 300 years ago... but it's not as if you can tell.

Ubisoft Needs to Cancel Assassin’s Creed Shadows, According to a Group of Japanese Gamers

[...]

"Recently, a serious issue of historical accuracy and lack of cultural respect has been raised about game developer Ubisoft's upcoming release, Assassin's Creed Shadows", the creators of the petition write (roughly translated). "The game is based on the subject of Japanese samurai and ignores the fact that samurai are a higher class of samurai and should be "gokemono" or servants of nobility. In fact, the first European to receive the title of samurai, William Adams (Miura Anobori), was a bannerman with 250 koku and served Tokugawa Ieyasu. Throughout this history, Ubisoft continues to misunderstand the nature and role of the Samurai.

According to the group, this misunderstanding about the nature and role of the historical Samurai is a serious insult to Japanese history and culture, which could lead to Asian racism. "We demand that Ubisoft immediately stop the release of "Assassin's Creed Shadows" and show serious investigation and respect for Japanese history and culture", the group writes.

At the moment of writing, more the petition has over 28.300 signatures with the next goal being 35.000 signatures. Out of those 28.300, more than 13.500 people signed the petition today.

After looking into the "dude from Nioh", it turns out he was perhaps the first weaboo to exist. Literally betrayed his own people and his own faith by promoting intolerance and isolationism in Japan. The repercussions of which meant that whites were no longer welcome, including any attempts to trade or to preach the Gospel. Traded all that for some Japanese pussy, which he likely could have gotten anyway since he was held in high regard at the time. Japan was very much willing to accept trade and missionaries prior to his meddling. Better a negro with integrity over a snivelling rat.
they should have thrown them out for spreading spiritual syphilis way earlier.

Ironic, because "spiritual syphilis" is precisely how I would describe anime and the rest of the filth Japan produces. Is it no wonder that they are suicidal and deranged?. Looks like they needed Catholicism far more than they realise.

You can also tell who's a zoomer or a millennial by how they revere and defend the Nipponese in an irrational, borderline religious manner. Zionists for Japan, you can say.

Quite to the contrary, the Japanese knew exactly how to deal with Christians.

Damn, what is going on here? There's a pulley, a manhole + 2 feet, a spear and an audience labelled. Doesn't look good tbh but hopefully that christian makes it out of there, I'm sure jesus wouldn't let anything bad happen to him.

Christians in feudal Japan were often tied up by their feet and hung down a pit, usually one with smelly stuff inside. They'd be left to dangle in darkness, alone with the stench, for hours until they renounced their faith. One arm was left free for the purpose of letting them knock to signal their willingness to renounce.

It was quite effective at keeping Christianity out of Japan. While executions only motivated them, as Christians love martyrdom, hanging in the shitpit for hours until you can't take it anymore was not something anyone looked forward to.

To be a Christian is to not fear death, or martyrdom. Be it lions, a pit of fire, or a mock crucifixion. The Christian is resolute in his faith in the Almighty, and trusts in Him that the suffering will be short and that his soul will be accepted into Heaven. The torturer in this drawing has no such peace. His faith denies him everything, even his soul. He will torture until he believes he is "reincarnated" and forced to try again. Sure a few dozen murders might mean he has a bigger mortgage to pay to some impersonal "being", but what's an extra life or two?. Of course, only hellfire awaits this individual. Not because God is a big meanie, but because the man died unrepentant in his actions and chose hell by his own desires.
