From what I can gather Atari were the publishers for all English-language versions of G2 and NOTR.

Its clear Atari gave G2 zero priority from the get-go. They took bloody ages to start distribution of the English version, and when they did it was with minimal PR.

Here is a snip from the Piranha Bytes site, indicating the general feeling the devs have for Atari:

Obviously GOTHIC II has been released some time ago in the United States as well as in the UK. But since Atari USA has not seen fit to confirm this to us officially at the date of release (nor until today in fact...), we did not spread the word in a timely manner. Sorry for that!

It seemed to get worse with NOTR, as Atari simply never published it. I recall reading talk of JoWood taking over publishing but I guess that hasn't really come to much, although the English version has now come to Poland?

So I was mistaken in saying JoWood had to 'take over' - you're just lucky your Polish, where JoWood must have had the rights since it was not an English version of NOTR.

From GothicDot:
JoWood boards has posted this ill bit of news on the Gothic 2 boards in April:

Bad news concerning the addon. I've talked with Plex if there will be an english version of the addon (Nacht des Raben), and he said that's a very difficult question. Many political problems are here within and it's not sure if there will be ever an english addon. this is out of the hands of JoWooD and Atari doesn't respond. Seems that the addon is temporary on ice or it died long before.

At this stage the English version of the add-on has yet to make an appearance anywhere other than Poland and maybe France?

Uh, OK. That's a shame.

No, the Polish distributor CDProjekt translated the expansion. I don't know about France.

edit: is something wrong with URL tags?
