Just give me a D&D core rules difficulty setting and I can deal with the gay vampire elves and Biowarian emo girls. And hopefully the cringeworthy writing.

I think I'd be much happier with the game if they called it anything other than Baldur's Gate 3. It doesn't really capture the same feelings I had for those games in this one at all.

However, mechanically this looks to be better than what I thought it be and does look appealing.

I still have higher expectations out of Solasta to be able to capture a old school AD&D adventure vibe but between Solasta and BG3 coming out looking like a pretty good times ahead.

Turn based and vancian sounds interesting enough, but let's see.

I take the prediction I said before about Wrath of the Righteous outselling BG3 by two to one back.

I doubt it, if coop is in. Four players online means you won't have to bother to split controlling the party like in ye olde days of BG2.

So, it's D:OS3, big surprise. I wouldn't mind another decent interactive movie, but the writing here is a new level of cringe.

I cannot lie, I was not impressed by this presentation. Even beyond game being a buggy mess and Sven's voice being quieter than game sounds and music, the game itself was slow and gimicky and those conversations.. brrrrr

I don't see how this game will be able to compete vs next Pathfinder game for any true RPG fans. Only VOfags and casualtards will think this game is better. Even Solasta looks 2x better than this.

Walgrave: Mmhmm! I don't think that current-gen consoles would be able to run it. There's a lot of technical upgrades and updates that we did to our engine, and I don't know if it would be capable of being able to actually run on those things.

Maybe it could run, but then we would have to tone down the textures and this and that and it wouldn't look as cool anymore.

Jesus why the fuck 3-D? Have they learned nothing?

The mechanic just adds absolutely nothing to a turn based RPG experience, other than having to fanny about with the camera constantly. The only thing you actually get from it is more busywork.

Stupid cunts.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Of course the retards that enjoyed shit like FO:NV, D:OS series, PoE, and so on are going to lap this up. The game looks like fucking shit. Nuke the Codex now because it's gone completely to the dogs. 3D looking graphics that are absolutely horrible. An isometric view isn't really isometric, with the other camera view being popamole third-person. Combat which looks incredibly boring, filled to the brim with shitty special effects. And the voice acting/character models?

Trash.

I have to agree that there are some positive elements here, such as a fairly decent implementation of turn-based mechanics, while also expressing some trepidation at how DOS2-like it all looks, and at how bad the writing might be.

Overall positive feeling about the game, but not convinced it's going to out-do Kingmaker, let alone Wrath of the Righteous.

well idk, the stats are there, the mechanics look like solid base at least, larian are bound by d20 and can't do shit dumb numbers,, but it does look like dos2 reskin aka bg with exploding barrels, the combat wasn't that exciting and all of the writing that happened didn't appeal to me.

there is something that missing, as someone noted you only notice it's faerun when you see selune symbol on item, and all these "hurr i gonna bite my companion" are just not needed in bg game.

looks kinda like d&d for casuls I guess.

also I feel it's important that in BG1 you're thrown into dangerous world right away, somewhat same in BG2, this tutorial with 20 minutes dancing with 3 lvl1 enemies was p meh to capture a feeling of bg.
I hate the exploding barrels and dipping my cock in fire, shit is going to be everywhere I fear. I hated finding barrels of acid and oil in the middle of the woods, so dumb. Problem is Swen can't control himself with this stuff. He gets an idea and just puts it everywhere. Like one or two battles would be interesting, but having acid barrels 700 miles into the mountains just makes no sense and it becomes a gimmick. Biting your companions. I wish Wizards would hog tie him harder.

The stream was cringe to watch and the questions at the end made me think that maybe I am too old to continue living in this planet. The questions were like "I am a big fan. What is rpg and how to play it?"

I am fine with visuals looking like DOS2, but on the other hand, I was not expecting to watch a stream for DOS3, and this is what I have just watched. Cursor is the same, elemental environment, scenarios, movement, buttons, labels, GUI, icons, character creation, pre made characters... Even the way you start the game is the same!

This can be a great game, but something was lost from the old BG style and this is kinda sad.

I was not expecting that.

By the gods, they had the balls to do pure turn-based! That's why I love Larian. Enjoying the shitstorm so far.

Also, this was pretty much pure D&D, closest to PnP since TOEE. All those skill actions, just wow.

The only time I cringed a bit was at the camp scene, which felt a bit too much like DA:O.

All in all, we have the makings of a great modern D&D game with open exploration, reactivity and a fantastic combat system. Can't wait to throw money at this as soon as possible.
