Just out of curiosity, do the devs officially refer to SR2 as TB or phase-based or what?

I don't think they've ever mentioned anything like that. Anyway, the battle screens show a turn-based system, that's for sure. I'm doing an interview with the developers, so we shall find out what the game is all about shortly.

I'll tell ya, the graphics in those actual in-game screenshots and not concept PR bullshit images look nice and crisp and clean. That's about all the graphics you need in an RPG. I hope this project works out well, and I hope they finally dump Starfarce too.

Looking at those screenshots it seems that the PC will have stacks of minions, kind of like in heroes of might and magic or similar tbs.

The Russian name is The Legend of a Knight or something like that. I guess some marketing genius thought that Battle Lord would, like, totally, appeal to the English-speaking audience.

Could be worse, I guess. It's just that Battle Lords is generic and makes me think it's a spinoff of the Battle Realms Warlords games. At least it's not something like Fall of the Schiza'ar: The Age of Decadence.

One of the devs posted some information on AG forums.
Here is my i-hope-not-completely-retarded translation:

The Legend of a Knight is adventure. Your character is traveling in real time on a big map, consisting of many locations. Character is developing, getting new items, recruiting an army, and of course he will be doing quests(game will have classical rpg-journal). So second element of the game is rpg. The combat in the game is turn-based, taking place on classical hex field, with rounds and action points. So third element of the game is tactical. And we have a genre: adventure/rpg/tactical.
Some facts:
- no buildings, we are playing travelling knight.
- mines, unlike HoMM where you can only capture them, will represent entrances to new locations.
- dialogs with npc will be fallout/nwn style
- There will be all types of quests: main quests, side quests, linear quesrts, nonlinear quests.

I like the travelling night idea, as long as they provide a sufficient explanation of exactly why you're trapising around the countryside recruiting nights. Having an "omg monsters are coming and will destroy the world soon!" wouldn't mesh well with doing sidequests and such. That's what kind of bothered me about Space Rangers 2. You have this big invasion going on and you're just running around doing fed-ex quests for a bit. Same thing in Oblivion, although in Oblivion the army never actually invades. Everything else sounds bueno.

Well I would hope its to make the workman class to rise up against their oppressors (the nobility and church) and in the end create a socialist utopia but since we are playing a knight fat chance of that happening.

I hope the full official name will be BATTLE LORDS: LEGEND OF A KNIGHT.

Great news from one of the few Ruskie devs that I have some faith in. Hopefully they don't have any problems finding a publisher to localize the game since the game looks pretty far along on the dev cycle already.

Ive read several of their dev journals. Not a word about roleplaying. Yeh, they implemented horses well, they got some fun combat and stats and shit, but no hint as to how those stats will affect the world, also no word on the dialoogs...

I even regret posting a newspost about them on my site.

It's a HoMM clone, so what dialogues? Anyway, we are doing an interview with them, so you shall find out shortly.

Speaking of which, I should probably get some questions going. Have you thought up any yet, VD?
