Eh...
I don't know...
On one hand it reminds me a alot of BF4 which is awesome and its about time those retards at DICE have any competition to give them a proper kick in the nuts
On the other hand I just can't get over how flat and blocky everything looks, plus the maps seem quite smaller to your typical BF conquest map

those reacts are stupid and normie tier.
He's an actual scholarly historian of firearms, author, and museum curator, who regularly picks out details that I'm pretty sure 99.9% of people here couldn't. If it was one of those REAL NAVY SEAL REACTS TO blahblahblah I'd agree, but this dude is legit.

And it's nice when gamedevs responsible for products focused on guns actually have a clue about what they're representing. (I sure don't, but that's not my job.)

Graphics remind me too much of Minecraft. Low-poly is fine, but why couldn't they style it any other way, maybe like Interstate '76?

I agree, and it was my major turnoff at first too. However, it's somehow much less noticeable in-game when everything is in motion. Still far from ideal for me, but the gameplay trumps the aesthetic for me in this case.

My one gripe with the graphics is how there's no shadows cast inside buildings so the interiors are just as uniformly lit as the outside.

Add to that he actually knows a thing or two about video games so he understands when things are done for game reasons.

I know, it's still cringe tier and repetitive.

First Week
  • It was smooth; we didn't have too many server issues. There were routing issues across NA-EU-AS, but with player reports, some of them were resolved.
  • We received a significant number of DDOS attacks on all of our servers continuously, some of them literally a day long, however, we were prepared beforehand. Our firewall caused sporadic packet losses here and there, but no major issues arose.
  • We were able to focus on Quality of Life improvements, new content, and bug fixes.

Second Week
  • A determined group of individuals who previously failed to take down our servers found a weak point in our firewall and started attacking any server they wanted using this weakness. They also started DDOSing servers that Content Creators were in to inflict as much damage to BattleBit's reputation as possible.
  • As a result of these attacks on our game servers, our server scheduling system also malfunctioned (e.g., 900 people waiting in queue, etc.), which significantly affected our development. We had to focus on collecting attack data, analyzing it, and working on fixing this flaw in our firewall.
  • We did not want to make a public statement alerting other people who had failed to take down our servers about this flaw in our firewall until it was patched.
I wonder who could be behind those DDoS attacks...

I can't wait for the next Battlefield or any similar AAA game that will inevitably have only half of this game's features for 6 times the cost.

Huh, turns out it was made by only three people. They must be making an absolute killing, even at that price. Certainly does explain the choice of visual style, but otherwise god does it put AAA studios to shame that so few people can make a better online shooter than most AAA studios have managed in the past decade or so.

Really impressed at the robust feedback mechanisms too; at least, I don't remember many other games allowing you to so easily respond to the flaws of a given map between rounds.

That is indeed impressive.

I'm most impressed that they've apparently managed to create stable netcode and network infrastructure for such a heavily played game. So far they've only really had one major problem due to a combination of ddosing and an exploit they had to resolve.

Yeah, I don't know much-to-anything about all that, but the idea alone is quite impressive. And it suddenly makes sense of the long series of network tests prior to launch.

'Battlefield Killer' lol

cant kill what is already dead
Lol, more like the only thing Battlefield fans have had to smile about since Bad Company.

BattleBit's destructible world isn't quite as impressive as back when Frostbite first appeared, but it's still a lot of fun.

Battlefield 3 was great. Battlefield 4 nerfed the destruction massively and doubled down on microtransaction BS.

Battlefield 2 was this series's magnum opus :obviously:

Not that consolized bad company shit.

I loved BF2 but environmental destruction added a lot to the game.

Seeing a building slowly get torn to pieces by 40mm grenades and lose any effectiveness as cover/concealment was a really fun aspect.

So I hear, but I was too young to play it in its heyday. I remember a friend's older brother playing it a lot though.

When I think of Battlefield being 'consolised' I think of something else. :P Kinda ironic given the obvious TF2 influences.

Huh. Turns out it got resurrected with a private servers.

This. I smiled at battlefield 3 and 4, but I am easily amused. I guess this Battlebit is like some kind of well done zombie Battlefield. It looks like a zombie, but it plays fun like Battlefield. I wouldn't be so quick or eager with actual people, but I'll say it for this. It lives!

I got this a little while ago and I liked it for the short amount that I played. I just have to get used to every class being able to revive fallen teammates.
