Because I know Cael appreciates these:

Modern day armoured combat vests in BTech is just another proof of HBS not caring about BTech lore or fans. Nothing new there. If I ever happen to be in the area, their HQ is going to be paint bombed until it looks like Rainbow Brite on LSD.

Note to Kevin: Being a nerd fan of something doesn't mean you fuck it up the arse, Kevin. It means you treat the material with reverence and follow hat has been established. You are no fan of BTech. You are nothing but a rapist.

unintended consequences: this voice selector is only possible so soon because it hijacks the pronoun selector functionality (which has made certain people upset)

Callyste's portraits are certainly an improvement on some of the existing ones (and there's a Frank Castle in there)

Thats good cause since 70% of pilots currently are black or some kinda of mudlisms and what not, cause incloosivity...

No. Callyste's portraits are an improvement because the females are actually females, not crossdressing males and the males are real males, not trannies trying to look male.

I noticed that, most of the females are black or trannies, or both, very few normal females... And those black are not even well made... I mean i could go with some cool black dude, and some decent black woman, just for "diversity". Lots of interbreeding...

Ov vey! i forgot how awful SJW reddit is. I made some comment about huge loading times and that the end trolling that they wasted their times on pronouns and incloosivity, comment got buried so fast with -30, same with another guys in that thread. GG ! SJW Safespace.

Too bad on some missions there's a really heavy-handed application of instagram-style filters.

I forgive the artist. Her artistic style makes up for the lack of nudity from mechwarrior chicks. This and the fact she's pretty hot.

So if Bethesda had some hot chicks on the team that made Fallout 3/4 it makes it a good game (or faithful to Fallout 1/2)?

Dude watch porn, jerk off to the artist and than stop thinking with your dick.

In other mod news, the game reportedly can't handle more than 4GB of assets because of Unity mobile-design limitations. Too many mechs and it will crash.
As in people adding new mechs? Got a link?

As in "more than 4 player mechs and large number of enemies all using hq assets"

no link, you'll have to see for yourself the memory utilization and behavior
That's why I asked, my peak memory usage has hit 4 GB but my game hasn't crashed and I don't experience the slowdowns others have mentioned. I'm not on a super computer either, it's an old i5-2500k

Breaking news:
BATTLETECH mods are not going to fix it

Thanks for the heads up, I gave up on the game a couple of days ago. The story/writing/characters just killed the game for me.

Interesting, I seem to have a similiar setup (plus an nvidia graphics card) but I encounter a lot of slow downs. Every 1-3 missions I had to restart the game as I run out of RAM.

Do you have "peak working set (memory)" as a viewable column in your task manager? if you keep playing BT and have to restart it because of slowdowns, take a peak at that value beforehand. I left it running overnight in a battle (whoops) and came back and it was ~4.1 GB and was completely playable (edit: meaning it wasn't any slower than normal, mid 30s to 50s FPS, depending on the scene. v-sync disabled). I have an AMD card though, so maybe it's connected to display driver.

Uhm, I have Windows 7 64 bit, in the task manager I can see how much memory is free, how much is used and how much BT uses.
Oh it is completely playable for me too (in the mission) but loading new mission takes forever (or going through different menus, like mechbay, mechcustomization, even the game menu). Sometimes after just one story mission, the next mission needed like 10 minutes to load. If I restart it loads quicker (2-3 minutes?).

The point is that the game doesn't (can't) use more of your system memory than 4gb. If it tries to, because you modded in a larger map or new models or whatever, it crashes since it will randomly drop other things that it needs.
Interesting, it never crashed for me, but yes it tries to drop other things and quiet takes some time to do so.

i gave up on this (which i was playing only because i'm a battletech junkie) at the "you need two lances" mission. i climbed up to assaults without ever needing two lances, it's never been requested nor hinted or anything, why all of a sudden i need four more assaults? this means YEARS of grinding only to satisfy this arbitrary, uncalled for, retarded requirement.

Game just crapped out on me. Time doesn't advance except for traveling, financial report is in status Done but doesn't display, mech repair no longer advances. Reloading doesn't help, playing a new contract doesn't help. Last option would be to reload further back but the fucking game apparently crapped out earlier and didn't do its usual autosave so last save is a manual save some 70 days back, at least 2 contracts and one Orion mech salvage behind and I'm not willing to go through all that again without being 100% sure the game works fucking properly. Looking up the problem only returns a bunch of people bitching about the same issue with no solution.

:salute: GG, nice knowing you.

Was your game modded? It seems updating to 1.03 breaks games that are modded, they've added something to that effect in the patch notes now. I think some people got it working again by reinstalling all the same mods and going to a slightly earlier save, not sure.

No mods. Reinstalled the whole damn thing but it didn't help. Last option is to go back to an earlier save and hope for the best, but I really don't want to do that and I find it beyond the pale that there's such a massive blocker present.

edit: wait, I replaced a logo. That isn't considered a mod....is it? Reinstalling replaced my custom emblem anyway...:|
How many saved games do you have? If it's more than 50, cut it down to 10 or so. It's a known bug that everything slows the fuck down with a lot of saves. Same with items, if you have 100s of medium lasers, SRMs, Heatsinks - sell that shit. Something about the game / Unity counting large numbers throws a wrench.

Still replaying Mechcommander, about 3/4 through the campaign. The varied mission design is incredible!
In the current mission, I have to capture an abandonded base and defend it against enemy mechs. If you're too slow, the enemies will capture the base first, fortyfing their position. Light, fast Mechs are mandatory.

Does this shit game even have anything like that?

...Except you can only sell items one at a time and the item list springs back up to the top every time.
Yeah the selling one at a time is annoying, but the bounce you’re talking about only happens when buying. You can keep clicking sell sell sell on your items without having to do any reselection.

Looking at that close up, the Argo is suddenly reminding me of the front part of the Old Republic Consular-class Diplomatic Cruiser. Same main-structure-over-barrel look.

If you're referring to the final part of the main storyline, you don't actually need two lances. I think the only reason they even suggested this is that you would need to use back-up mechs/pilots if you perform poorly enough in the first part of the mission that your mechs lose limbs or your pilots suffer injuries, but it's easy enough to make it through this part of the mission without too much damage.

I ran into the same problem 2 or 3 times, with the date not advancing properly. The solution is to reload a save from before this problem occurs. Since I was creating manual saves, this wasn't much of an issue for me, but this could really screw over someone relying on autosaves.

The defend the farm mission is the biggest wake up call. It is still early in the game and the previous missions were pretty much go in and kill everything. Suddenly, you have enemies coming at you from all sides and in relatively large numbers. If you didn't bring a minelayer, you are already up shit creek and if you can't multi-task in scouting and running several smaller fights at the same time, you've also lost the paddle.

Those two minelayers were the best investment I ever made in that game.

I tried an older manual save, tried not playing a contract, tried playing a different contract than the one I did when it stopped working. The result is the same, at around week 151, game craps out. :(

Seems a common problem:

Hello XXXXXX,

I have linked this ticket myself to the bug report in the developers hands. Apparently this problem wasn't as widespread before this patch and whatever was introduced as exacerbated the issue.

The devs are working to fix this issue but I have not timescale to give you on it unfortunately.

Then someone points to where the bug may be occurring in the code, others say going back 2 financial reports worked for them. Bit of a mess.

:yeah:
Found a fix.
http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...sing-in-timeline.1098195/page-5#post-24254044
The file in this guy's post needs to be copied to BATTLETECH\BattleTech_Data\Managed (GoG version at least), remove everything after CSharp, of course. It managed to get my game unstuck, I got hit by 2 financial reports at the same time so it remains to see if it doesn't fuck up other things, but the timeline at least advances now.

edit: Second financial report after applying the fix worked OK. Ship upgrades are OK. Mech refit/repair is OK. The animation for traveling between systems played 3 times and I'm not sure whether it should do this to show you jump through several systems or if it's borked, but the travel time progressed normally.
I love how they pushed out a buggy, shitty product and expected users to fix their shit. Even before the launch, they were telling everyone "mods will fix it". The utter lack of professionalism or regard for their customers just oozes out of HBS.
