I would think that nobody who cooks for themselves would want this monstrosity.

Then again, people who presumably use the PC themselves do buy ((gaming)) cases…

What decent alternatives are there? When I built a new pc a couple years ago everything was gamer style except a few brands like Noctua and Bequiet. Feels like 99% of computer parts are gaming.

I built a new PC for myself last year because my 12 year old machine in which I had replaced individual parts many times (new RAM sticks, new GPU, etc) was finally giving up the ghost.
Got a top of the line rig with Ryzen 9 and a Radeon RX 7900 XT. Of course I also needed a new case for this, because the old one was a little small for the big new hardware.

This is the machine I ended up building:

It was one of the very few cases on offer that had no RGB bullshit and no window. I would have liked a slot for a DVD drive, but apparently they don't put those in modern cases anymore, so I got an external drive instead.
It's pretty solid overall, good airflow and a sturdy construction. And most importantly, no stupid lights and no stupid window.

Cases like this are a real rarity nowadays, however. Mifcom, the store I bought my PC in, has a custom PC configurator where you can assemble all the parts according to your personal preferences, and among the two dozen cases they had on offer, perhaps two or three were closed cases without a window, and most of those silly window cases also had RGB lights somewhere in there.

I had to laugh out loud when I picked my RAM sticks and saw that the same brand of RAM I was using also had a model with RGB lights on it... which cost ten bucks more per stick, just so your PC can look like a gaudy Christmas tree. Hilarious.

Corsair?

I had the same thing when I was upgrading my RAM a few years ago. I saw those flashing RAM sticks and wondered whodafuk even buys that.

"Cheaper" windowed cases are acrylic which doesn't have that problem. The window is still a pointless feature but if you can put the PC under your desk or next to something that covers it then it doesn't matter. RGB is much more annoying, especially when it defaults to full unicorn barf and you need vendor crapware to turn it off.

That's a big boi.
Is it even bigger than it looks?
