After that it makes no sense. You start a camaign to make others hate the game you love as much as you hate it. If you play the game you love you are determined to hate it... What is this? I don't even-
It's Gaider trying his hand at sarcasm. And as we all know sarcasm and text medium...

(I know, the sarcasm thing was Laidlaw, but I couldn't resist)
Yeah, I know what he was trying to say. It's just that he did it so ineptly that everything got garbled. I could make a comment about "published author and all" but I don't expect everyone to put as much effort into every comment on the internet as you. So I'll refrain from that. Which leaves the question why that garbled nonsense is considered cool enough to be quoted...

I hate Blob-RPG. It's unrealistic. You're like a dude with 6 heads or something.

Any game with full control of the party is like that, not just blobbers.
No, no, no. What is this nonsense about "6 heads or something"? We have a perfect codexian name for that, and you keep blabbing about "6 heads or something"?

Learn to :mhd:

Good grief. I have rarely had the pleasure to read such a self-important, insufferable twat. From that short exchange, you already know that any kind of answer is wasted on that "V.I.P.".

You've probably read or heard of GoldenPigsy's review of Dragon Age: The Stolen Throne. He recently reviewed The Calling.

I do not usually make predictions as I read – I have no inclination to do so and hardly believe that anybody who reads for pleasure does – but I knew immediately what I expected to happen at some point in Dragon Age: The Calling when Fiona, the elf mage, gets into an argument with King Maric of Ferelden. She accuses him of being a poor father. He gets angry and tells her that she doesn’t know the first thing about him.

And all I could think was: “Oh no. He’s going to fuck her.”

I cannot continue to read or write this review; I cannot see. My eyes are so permanently rolled.

My review of The Stolen Throne received numerous comments to the effect that I set my standards too high for a fantasy novel, particularly a licensed one. Putting aside the ability of supposed fans of the genre to denigrate it as a whole with their low expectations, I have to point out that I am only judging Gaider’s writing according to his own metric. In a recent interview at the New York Comic Con, Gaider said about Dragon Age as a whole: “It's also character-driven, and thus concerned more about the human condition than it is about being epic.”

That statement is utterly gob-smacking when juxtaposed to The Calling, which is the very definition of plot-driven and ham-fistedly characterized. It is the apotheosis of tie-in literature, the quintessence of all those malignant aspects I previously enumerated. The Calling, and its author, have nothing to say about the human condition. They trade in only the worst kind of fantasy; neither entertaining nor escapist, but dull and imprisoning in its rote plot and tortured prose. It is the sort of fantasy writing that does not evoke the imagination; it does not challenge the reader. It is not fantastic in any sense. The Calling panders.

A little bit of humility would behoove a writer who is fairly new to prose fiction, but it occurs to me that David Gaider is not, and likely never will be a writer a prose fiction, nor humble about his position. He is a pretentious writer of game books. The Calling is a Fighting Fantasy book or a D&D campaign in which the player makes no choices, builds no characters, and participates in no adventure. We only read Gaider’s fantasies as told to himself, relevant only to those who share them.

Dunno if sarcasm, but here's an answer that shouldn't go to waste

"Bashing? Hardly. It is called a educated opinion and simple observation. Just because that opinion is not unicorns and rainbows does not make said point moot. If I am so way off again stick to my points and refute them (if you can). Sounds more like sour grapes on your part due to a bitter pill of truth I just force fed you. *shrugs*"

Forcefed me what? the fact you are more Codexian than most Codexians? Everyone on the Obsidian baords alreayd know that since they've seen multiple posts from you that show you to be a true blue Codexer. That's nothing to be asahmed of sicne that is exactly who you are.

'Educated opinion'? HA! That's exactkly what the Codexer does when bashing other forums including this one. "They are dumb because are opinion is more Educated and we know what talk about. HA!"

You aren't impressinga nyone with your opinion. Since you *are* your opinion.

Sour grapes about what? That you are bashing the Codex? I bash the Codex all the time. And, many Codexers hate me becuase I'm more a Codexer than any of them. And, many Codexers tolerate me because they realzie that.

Refute what? You made no point worth refuting. Unkless the point you are making is that you cna't be taken seriously. And, well, point taken though it's an obvious point that all here can agree with.

R00fles!
Yeah, keep rofling the good r00fles guys

As one of the sites forum moderators, I'm not sure what you are implying with this statement. Do we on occasion get "racist, neonazi and spam" posts? Certainly. With our Open Registration policy, that's always bound to happen, though most of that behavior usually stays within the spam forum.

Please don't take this as a attack. But this is someone with vast experience under his belt of founding, running successful website communities. You are a moderator in title only. The codex wants to give the illusion there are some kind of standards or oversight. There isn't. If there was REAL moderation 90% of the garbage that is posted there wouldn't be allowed. The trolling, flame bait, personal attacks, harassment, etc. Let me let you in on a little secret. the reason you folks allow that is because if you actually enforced posting standards like most sites do then it would become painfully obvious what your site has become. A shell of its former self, living in its glory days as there would be only a handful of posts a day that would be posted/allowed as the majority of your 'community' would move on to another sire with a free for all posting policy as it mostly is now. As that is really all they want to do. Post the flames and personal attacks, etc.

A successful, helpful, useful, productive community site isn't measured in how many posts and traffic do I get (quantity), it is measures in how much quality is posted and when the signal is much higher then the noise you succeeded.

Looks like it's personal :)

prolly registered and got called a returd on the first post

Volourn, he argues with the codex in defense of Obsidian. He argues with Obsidian in defense of the codex. He has no home.

It's just so sad. More beautiful than all the Stars Wars films combined. Yes, even more tragic than how Anakin became Darth Vader. /Spoilers
