I already had more fun reading the new Fallout 3 forums than I will ever have playing (improbable) the damn game.

Actually this is a golden opportunity. Rush to "Past Titles" forum and post threads discribing the games, the choices, the setting; everything, without references to F3 or TES.

For the newbies to the Fallout world, there is a great guy by the nick of Per, who has done a couple of excellent walkthru's

A quote from his FO2 Walkthru.

War story: player (level 2) manages to piss off Joey in conversation, runs into Becky's chased by thugs, and hides behind Rebecca. Joey fires at player and hits Rebecca, casino guard fires at Joey and hits gambler. Eventually gamblers and townspeople are fighting each other and guards, guards are shooting gamblers and thugs, and Joey gets killed by Rebecca while still trying to shoot player. Then guard misses and kills orphan outside, two orphans storm the casino and even score a critical hit before being gunned down by the guards. Meanwhile, a guard accidentally hits another guard, guards start shooting each other, and as one guard runs out the door the entire battle spills out into the street! A few more people are killed out there. Combat ends, one of the surviving guards turns and walks back into the casino, while five or six guards and casino patrons remain outside, most of them severely wounded. One gambler, standing out in the street, comments: "Damn, Becky's was the only place to gamble around here!"

End quote

That is what fallout of old is all about.

Geminito's blog:

And so Oblivion begins to fade into CRPG history. Today Bethesda Softworks opened the official Fallout 3 forums, pushing the Oblivion forums down and nearly out of sight. Shivering Isles was a fantastic expansion pack, so I am hopeful that there will be another Oblivion expansion. But with Fallout 3 stealing the spotlight, it seems doubtful. According to Oblivion developers, resources have been moved over to Fallout 3. Anyone still working on Oblivion content? Probably not.

Knowing how rabid, irrational, and immature the hard-core Fallout fans are (see Glittering Gems of Hatred), I wouldn't have opened the Fallout 3 forums until the last possible minute if I was Bethesda. Admitting that I am a fan of Fallout these days is like saying I am a raving lunatic who hates everything that isn't Fallout. So I just say that I enjoyed Fallout back in the day.

Each Elder Scrolls game has been better than the last. The end of each chapter leaves me gasping for air, clawing at the screen, begging my computer for more, to which it does not reply! It leaves terrible marks on the monitor, which is why I wear the mittens.

So if Fallout 3 is going to interrupt the flow of Elder Scrolls games, I'm a bit confused about whether I should be excited about it. My nostalgia for Fallout has been soiled by the Fallout community. I can only hope that Bethesda knows what it is doing by prematurely opening the Fallout 3 forums. Maybe they are trying to create a new Fallout community, one that doesn't foam at the mouth, before marketing begins.

And I love how when someone posts in a post titled "Woohoo" someone points out there is already a woohoo thread and 2 mods come to defend the person, yet any thread tha complains is locked or erased in moments.

I really don't think they fully understand what they have gotten themselves into.

Anything less than a circle jerk for Bethesda, they have to shut down. It's in the rules.

FOForumPost:
"I think Bethesda will regret opening this forum."

BethMod reply:
"The game will be unveiled realtively soon, and I imagine most of the people who don't like what they then see will simply leave. They've known Fallout 3 was coming for a while, and most of them have been convinced Bethesda will do a bad job, so I doubt they're going to start trolling if they feel their suspicious have been confirmed."

...bit of a defeatist wouldn't you say?

I'm going to be there all night. Slowly, I'm going to turn the biggest thread into pure off topic about the Oblivion fans and their reading comprehension complexes they all seem to be having.

Good Lord, Beth definitely opened the Pandora's Box today. At last, the real fun begins.
Well, I DO hope so, for everybody's sake. Let us unleash divine justice upon those retarded xboxer ok? ^^

I am at the frontline, but it's just overwhelming. There are a lot of those Zerglings or something, and most of our forces are just plain marines (including me), and a firebat here and there. No armored vehicles, much less air support. I believe battle cruisers will arrive, eventually, but the hub will probably be completely overrun by that scum by then... Some of our men have even turned into them, corrupted by their filth... And they have... queens...

We need immediate assistance! To war comrades, let them not take over, lest we loose all that is dear to us!!!

Ah, at long last we can leave the bad old days of the Oblivion Codex behind and return to our original fixation as the Fallout Taleban Codex!
