Yeah, sophisticated FPS gamers want watered down RPGs.
Because RPGs are like the smart version of shooters which are dumb.

if "RPG" scares people away, why are you writing "rpg" on the box? why not go all the way balls-to-the-wall and make halo clones. those are even more likely to appeal to Your Halo Gamer

But it wouldn't appeal to players who want that little bit of extra coolish awesomeness that the term 'RPG' equates to in this industry. At the same time they're making the FPS douchebag feel 'deep' with, well, ultimately, final fantasy level complexity (if that).

And they're getting the poor beleaguered RPG players who can't help but stuff the 'McRoleplay,' if you will, in their plaque-infested mouths. Many of these like RPGs and maybe strategy type games, but know nothing other than the crap they've been force-fed for what, 10 years? (of course, they later find out about fallout or torment or what have you, and see the light, much to their future detriment)

'RPG' is still the magic toybox term and will continue to be abused indefinitely. They're getting away with it, this static, toe-the-line, never advancing anything philosophy, burying the ideals of interactivity and significant C&C in muck and shit. And we can shovel up as much of this delicious pie as we want. There's plenty more where that came from, Jethro!

But with clones you don't have innovation. But innovation scares people, so you gotta have innovation without innovation.

pretty simple really

That one's easy. During the PR and marketing, you claim so many times that it's new and innovative, even though it's not, that these "sophisticated" gamers end up believing it is innovative. Ta-da! Innovation without the need for innovation.

I can understand visually turning the supposedly nerdy, perpetually socially inept alien chick into some badass and sexy alien chica for the sake of catching attention (since she's a character you can bone in the game)... but what's with the metal codpiece?

All Asari look the same, I don't think that's actually Liara

the codpiece is there to prevent cunt punts, female psychic's worst enemy

You could be right. I just figured it was a concept piece for the character or something.

So after this unexpected revelation can we have all topics about this retarded piece of shit for sophisticated Halo gamers posted in General Gaming where they belong?

-ehm-

No, Mass Effect 2 is not a first person shooter (I hope). It is a third person shooter with story elements and rpg stats trown in for good measure.

And the first Halo game, Halo: Combat Evolved is actually a very good shooter, imo.

The devs, have said that they have tried to make the combat more entertaining and fun (like in Halo and Gears of War) while maintaining and upgrading the story side of the game as well; there will apparently be a series of choices that will lead to the death (permanent) of Shepard.

Good shooters are OK with me, even shooters that uses rpg stats and also has a great (back) story.

Nvm, I noticed she has freckles and Liara was the only freckled asari. It's probably Liara.

She being an action girl now doesn't surprise me, bitch helped me kill her mother. I just hope she doesn't become emo, and that black uniform isn't helping.

This reminds me of a scene in that old megaman cartoon. Dr, Wily is threatening to destroy the word if people won't worship him as emperor. Then, some guy I suppose is USA's president, yells at him

"Go on then! Destroy everything and rule over nothingness!"

Then Wily tells him the world has like 24 hours to decide.

tl;dr: poll nao

Why am I suddenly reminded of Bastila from KotoR?
