How would they monetize Warcraft 4 with a bajillion microtransactions?
Sell game maps. Sell "custom maps", basically paid mods. Sell hero skins, complete with custom voice acting and custom spell effects. Sell a co-op version of the campaign as DLC. Sell small self contained campaigns as extra stories, or story expansions. Sell assets like custom announcers/narrators for the game, $1.99 custom UI or some such. Complete skins for factions maybe, like transforming your orcs to fel orcs in MP, or humans to that pirate faction.
There's plenty of ways to monetize, most already tried and tested by Blizzard or other companies. DOTA2 and League of Legends have done much monetization with a multiplayer RTS-ish game.

Plus Warcraft 3 had four races so they can sell four campaigns for $60 each.

You can separate trollz from orkz, hummies from dwarves and sell them for full price. Double price for ogres because they have 2 heads.

But this is a lot of extra work, the whole point is to sell visual and audio assets for much more than they are worth to produce.

But it's exactly what i offer. Basic horde campaign - only orkz. But you can buy racial packs to improve your experience.

I hope when they announce Diablo 4 they do it the RIGHT way.

Have Matt Uelman come out, strum the Tristram theme... then after a good minute or two he stops and says, "Something feels empty." They have some green screen of a town portal opening and BAM, out comes DAVID BREVIK himself. Everybody is losing their minds, the girls are becoming pregnant from the air of awesomeness all around them alone, the 12 year old Overwatch fan is confused and bewildered and clutching their D.Va plushy, somebody got an inadvertent hand to the face which bloodied their nose, pure pandemonium and hype.

AND THEN A HUGE MONSTER TRUCK BLARING GUNS 'N ROSES COMES SPEEDING ONTO THE STAGE, ANNIHILATING UELMAN AND BREVIK INTO BLOODY PASTE, PEOPLE SHRIEK IN HORROR, NOBODY KNOWS HOW TO REACT, WHEN THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR OPENS AND OUT STEPS...

Jay Wilson.

He takes one look at the remains of what was once David Brevik and says, "Heh, fuck that loser."

People should just ignore (as in literally) Blizzard for 1 year (perhaps 2); we'd probably get a decent single player game quite fast after that period. but as long as there are faggots that cling to this company they won't change at all.
same goes for bethesda, EA et al.

Thinking that gamers have power over game developers lol. Shareholders do.

How about attaching a Warcraft IV pre-order to your account is required to buy Diablo IV.

if lots of people ignore the developer and don't give moneys to them - you honestly think shareholders would say "oh yeah, keep it up, we like seeing no/low sales"?
granted, it's only an idea and perhaps a nonsensical one (even for a hypothetical thing); but I think it would work.

but it's sad to see people even discussing Blizzard/EA/Bethesda et al. at this point. i wonder how many times do people need to get screwed over to actually stop supporting companies like that?
it's a shame that blizzcon is even happening after all the crap from those faggots. after the "mobile" diablo fiasco I honestly thought, that finally people have had enough of blizzcrap, but Blizzard only has to mention Diablo+PC in the same sentence and people are like "fuck yeah, go blizz" while completely ignoring what happened just a "few days" ago.
people are actually going to pay for that Fallout76 premium thing from bethesda...what. in. the. actual. FUCK.?.

even here on codex there are still 4 fags who actually brofisted this blizzard crap. there hasn't been a decent news on the games front (let alone RPG front) from blizzard in god knows how long, and yet, and YET, idiots still brofist news about them. what is there to brofist? being raped in the ass without lubricant?
...oh wait, maybe they are gay fags and actually like being raped in the ass.... :hmmm:
