Didn't they say they were gonna have some sort of "photo mode" to pop into 3rd person for screenshots or whatnot? Anyway, not surprised but still disappointed at these questions, no one asked if we can wear baggy coats that make us look bigger than we really are.

Why this lack of 3rd person anyway, "immersion"? It's a waste of customization options if you have to toggle some sort of freeze frame shit on just to see yourself.
Pondsmith stated in an interview about the game that he and the devs decided upon it also due to the fact that 3rd person would be metagamey if you can play with the camera angles and see more than just what's in front of you.

I must say that's a pretty lame excuse, the real reason must've been some technical limitation. Hard to believe, but it must be. 3rd person better be moddable.

Eh, I doubt that it's an excuse. I think that it's a valid design philosophy.
Not really. Its so easy to program a vanity cam into your games there's really no excuse to not have one. I mean its valid if you want to shoot and interact with things sure but a vanity cam is as easy as moving the camera a few units back and have it orbit the character its that simple. Something like this IMO should be an option.

The issue with that is that it would allow you to see around corners in interior environments and what not.

I said you wouldn't be using it in combat, meaning the vanity cam wouldn't work in combat areas. But you did give a good point about my own implementation of it I have to remember to limit where you can use it so thanks heh.

So modding 3rd person as a "cinematic" alternative for cutscenes is out, since they never implemented lip sync or other reactive animations for the main character, a'la Witcher 2 & 3. Having that option in normal gameplay in no-combat zones seems like a poor substitute, but better that than nothing. You will be seeing your character in the cyber upgrades and body armor screens, but it's not the same as seeing it in the game enviroment, with the lighting effects and shaders.

from my own games perspective I went with both 3rd and first because I can't figure out which is the better as I like both. I figure why limit how the player sees your game let them pick how the game works its better that way.
My design philosophy has always been to provide options and not enforce my own preferences on the customer.

Scum got around this nicely by blurring the areas that would not be visible in first person.

First person would be fine if this were a real shooter. If it's going to be Fallout 4 though then it'd be at least something if the player could see themselves in third person.

In the big-budget titles it currently comes down to Rockstar and CDPR.

RDR 2 has one of the worst stories i've had the tediousness of playing through in a long while. Not exactly being favoreable to your point here that "this is the way to develop characters" if the end result is RDR 2.
It's beside the point whether we like it or not (personally, I do), there can easily be interactive movies we don't like just as there are normal movies we don't like. But it's a technique for writing which is more sophisticated than what's found in games in general.

I'm really excited about the character customization options. Has anybody covered the various nipple options?! I'm hopeful for pepperoni or dick nipples.

Well, you are the target audience, enjoy.
FYI, trannies sperged out against the game because CDPR tied gender to voice. :M

You can never satisfy sjws. No matter how hard you cuck, they will always find something.

I actually got really happy about tying gender to voice lol

just wish the masc bodytype had like options for like femboy twink style body, that would be so fucking based with female V voice plus game using she/her
No body types beyond male & female really was a missed opportunity. Would've liked to go for a sculpted Corpo chad or a builtfat Nomad with a focus on melee.

But eh, given that you won't see your character beyond menus and reflections, it's not much of a loss anyway.

Maybe in cyberpunk 2. You should start shilling for in on social media and try to get sjws, trannies and alt right femboy aficionados to support you and pressure cdp to add this.

i guess the body sliders won't really amount to much?

I think SCUM tied your stats with your body. In GTA San Andreas - if I am not mistaken - you can get fat by eating a lot and it does impact your stats. This is the approach I'd like to see more often in games.

Doesn't seem so from what we've seen so far. And some devs even commented that you should focus on your hands since that's what you'll see most of the time anyway.

Which begs the question of why did they then decide to invest a lot into a varied clothing selection which is purely cosmetic? I'm guessing that they might've had 3rd person as well in an earlier iteration or at the very least 3rd person cutscenes.
