Ehm, untrue.

And?
Are there any consequences besides having her model that looks like 50 other NPCs selling you shit later in the game and having another NPC model that looks like 50 other NPCs selling you the exactly same shit later in the game in the exactly same place?
Consequences of Bioware proportions indeed.

These choices in DA: Origins sound a lot like the c&c in The Witcher to me, especially the one about The Witch....
It souds very, very much like The Witcher. And if you watch that video where they show c&c with the prisoner, it's blatant rip-off of one of TW's trailers. I pointed this out on other forums and Bio fanboys inevitably respond with hysteric rants.

Which prisoner video is that?
One of the recent ones, where they show gameplay section before the battle. In the camp there was a prisoner in the cage and player was presented with different options.

I clearly remember the same element from TW trailer that was shown before it was released, there was also a prisoner and you had to choose his fate.

Guys, guys, why are we comparing two piece of shit? It doesn't matter which one is better. They're both still shit.

Witcher:

That both are being narrated over by a developer as an example of what CnC is does make them look similar.

To me, Gaider's example in his article sounds a lot like Abigail + Alvin from TW.

Ah, I see now. I also agree that Gaider's example sounds too familiar. Granted, the trope itself isn't terribly new, but these things add up.

It's funny, I remember seeing a video preview of that scene on IGN, and after I played the game I tried looking up how to get that scene. For surely I had missed it somehow, right? So do you think that they cut that from the game later, or was it created solely for the preview?

And since we're on the subject of bullshit previews, here's a demo of Mass Effect that shows a very hard-to-reach conversation as well as the much- vaunted "interrupt feature" in dialogues that, I must admit, had me excited at first. Scroll to 1:30.

Jesus Christ, we can't even trust real gameplay footage anymore.

There is major quest in 4th chapter the ending of which is affected by Abigail presense.

Yeah fake videos are getting annoying. I mean, they are outright lying now. Oblivions retarded Radiant Ai was the most annoying (the stupid dog and girl thing).

But whats this about Mass Effects interrupt feature? Are you talking about moving conversations forward by pressing a button? If so thats not really new, KOTOR had an option to skip conversations as well. very helpful in replays.

Um, so am I the only one who read that entire quote and noticed that Gaider clearly says at the beginning that the witch scenario is not in the game?

I don't know... Dragon Age sound interesting and good, but on the other hand - Bioware makes shitty games lately, so I don't know if I should wait and buy this game or not.

Really? If you mean the "wedding" quest - then Abigail is replaced with some old woman which does the same shit - if you mean the ending where Abigail kinda helps Geralt - kinda aka "oh well you spared me - I will help you fight those monsters which you can easily kill yourself" - then iirc she is being replaced by another NPC.
TW is linear like a stick - the consequences are purely cosmetic - in the best traditions of Bioware.

I thought you were a fan of T'witcher

Also, please don't write "TW", which we had gotten used to meaning Two Worlds.

This brings up a good question: skyway, which RPGs do you think are really good? I think I've guessed it right: Fallout 1 and 2, PST, Arcanum(?), and MOTB, with everything else being shit or mediocre.

I'd guess that the TW video was a tutorial for CnC, a demo thing.

Wow, I'd totally forgotten about the Oblivion pre-release video of the woman in her house with the dog.

And ah, the infamous Mass Effect collar-grabbing video; I never actually saw that before.

It's interesting how the tone and tempo of the voice acting changed so much in the final product. It's so much more anxious (which is arguably good), but it's also painfully more 'stereotypical crappy action' movie too, really over the top.

No I'm not a fan. Thankfully.

But I do like good games.

You forgot VtmB. And even KotOR2 because of writing. But I believe by everything else you mean Bioware games or uninspired games from lesser Bioware - if we will speak about this type of RPGs?
I also like me some IWD, ToEE and Wizardry occasionally.

And I also like games besides RPGs.

Damn that's totally like I don't like anything.

Never played Anachronix, but Deus Ex has at least as much c&c as most Bioware games.

Prove me wrong.
