If I wouldnt know that ds3 is not moddable I would think he modded the ea version of it for a few thousand hours.

T'is probably the reason the lighting got revised, but my message was not about that, it was about how the whole level design still carries the marks of a radically different gameplay.

Yup. Many places in DS2 are like that. Lost Sinner boss fight is the most revealing one as it is one of the most easy boss fights in DS games despite him/her being one of the main bosses of the game.

Point is that in case of sinner you should:

- fight with him without light and without torch (which means you could use shield and tank his shots from outside of your view
- fight with him without light but with torch meaning players who dodge a lot could fight him
- fight with him with light (which is aquired by beating hard optional boss) and with it you could go head on with full force, knowing exactly where he is.

When they cut lighting and torch mechanic even without torch you can see whole arena without problems thus making that fight 3rd option from above aka easiest.

Though i think it was other way around. They had proper lighting already and probably most of shading done but due to framerate on consoles (which was bad in early hands on) they had to scrap completely mechanic and thus they removed from game most of additional shading for more light sources which is why so many textures in game are just plain no bumpmapping textures.

Whole effects downgrade also confirms it (they removed most of FX effects from game eg. sparks)

Wouldn't trust that, read several posts from players who've played the previous games and said it took them ~ 40 hours to do about everything. Only two players polled on HLTB anyway.

How long to beat is pretty accurate site.

Maybe the time will change when more players will play it, because it shows the average.

I use HLTB to get estimates for almost everything I'm planning on playing, so I agree that it's accurate. Was just saying that those 30 hours are the average of only two players.

huh?

it's harder than anything in DeS except maybe Flamelurker. it's harder than anything in DaS1 except O&S, Manus, maybe Kalameet, maybe Gargoyles, maybe 4Kings. similarly, in DaS2 there's only a handful of fights (and almost all in the DLCs) which are more difficult. i'm not saying it's a particularly challenging fight (although it is in NG+, particularly if you don't light the torches. and let's not forget they nerfed her severely in one of the earlier patches. she had significantly more health and dealt more damage on release), but it doesn't qualify as "one of the most easy boss fights in DS games" by any definition of the word(s). you'd have to be mentally challenged to make such claims

I like WhatAreYou?ACasul? his cynicism is a lot more refreshing than dickbreath Souls fans squealing about "SPOILERS!" in one hand, while obsessively looking up said spoilers, and engaging in open discussion about the lore implications of fighting Ornstein for a 3rd goddamn game in a row. Dishonest pricks, i'll kill everybody in this shithouse.

"MY SPOILERS!" Shut up, dork.

Is that troll attempt ? Maybe you are confused which boss it is ?

Lost Sinner is literally one of the easiest bosses in all DS games. Literally rise your garbage shield and hack after he attacks. Covetus demon even is harder than him as at least he has insta kill grab where lost sinner has weak attacks and... nothing else/

His only real gimmick is that he moves outside of your view* and attack from those positions.
* if lighting would actually work like pre downgrade

THIS GUY GETS IT :D

Btw. Lost Sinner is a female, retards. Unfortunately, I can't evaluate her difficulty, because I've been doing TheUrbanOrb's type of challenges literally excursively in Souls games since late 2012, so for example I've never used a single Estus in DS2 yet :D Anyway, check out TheUrbanOrb if challenge runs are your thing :D

What the fuck?

covetus at least can suprise you when you first fight it eating you up while lost sinner is boss which is literally beaten first time without any problems and doesn't have anything about it that can suprise you*

* because his gimmick doesn't work post downgrade.

pidoraha poehavshaia.

I have no idea what this means.

Anyways, as expected the Miyazaki pendelum has officially swung in the other direction. From the great director who will restore the series to greatness to "some nip asshole ruining the best RPG series since Baldur's Gate". Obviously the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

Lost Sinner was the pyromancer int he prison right?

I didn't know about lighting the lights the first time and I recall not finding her all that tough even then.
