He's a bit schizophrenic about this. He says that he values NPCs and roleplaying so much (and incidentally by "roleplaying" he means what is commonly derided here as LARPing) but then his top rated really doesn't reflect this. While playing Skyrim he called it BEST GAEM EVAR but in a blog post last week he said that it's in fact far inferior to Morrowind. In that same post he was saying how he doesn't agree that consolitis is the reason for the decline, but then he lists all the reasons for decline... and they're all the things that we've discussed endlessly here in relation to consolitis for the past 10 years.
I still like to follow his blog, and occasionally I feel stupendous incline coming from it (like when he reviewerd Wilderness Campaign) but there's generally a very clear-cut distinction with the way he critiques games: if it's an old game and he likes it, he's spot on. If it's an old game and he hates it, he'll make you facepalm (see Wiz 4, and now Darkspyre). Even his reasons for disliking otherwise-mediocre games can be mind-boggling (see Moebius, which he stopped playing and shelved for two years because... he didn't like the way ONE SPRITE WAS DRAWN. Yeah). I think the most fun I've had recently was reading about all his pitfalls with Nethack, all the way until he actually ascended.
